Hive is a rum based milk punch inspired by Lavaaughn Belle’s 2023 piece, “Swarm”, currently on view in our exhibition, “Revival: Digging Into Yesterday, Planting Tomorrow”. 🍹

Originally designed for our Sip & Tour program, Hive starts as a take on a Bees Knees before being clarified in a coconut milk punch. Rum and amaro from Belle’s birthplace Trinidad are added to charred pineapple juice, honey, and lime. Once those ingredients have been combined, they are introduced to coconut milk where the acid and alcohol content break the coconut milk. After filtering, we are left with a sepia-toned cocktail like Belle’s Swarm. ✨
