Dearest friends,
We have spent the last 3+ years in Idyllwild working with all our might to bring healthy, vibrant compassionate food made from scratch with love, and have felt so honored to do so, to this beautiful mountain town. We are proud of what we’ve been able to overcome here and what we have been able to offer our many supporters in the toughest of circumstances. We literally have done everything possible to remain doing so. All things have been considered, put on the table, worked towards and pursued.
Often, life hands us unavoidable challenges that make us reevaluate, readjust and reprioritize in huge ways. Unfortunately due to issues beyond my control, I am forced to make difficult changes. The biggest one right now, is that I am unable to continue to operate Plant Food Supper Club here in Idyllwild.
This news is particularly difficult for me to deliver, as I have poured such passion into what I’ve done here. We have had wonderful response to our restaurant. I have staff, past and present, that have become my Idyllwild family, to whom I owe undying gratitude for helping me implement this vision. There are local regulars, whose support has meant everything, and visitors who specifically come to Idyllwild to dine with us - all of whom I am loath to disappoint.
However, change is inevitable. This life is far too short. It’s meant to be spent living vibrantly, in-flow, discovering our true power and sharing quality time with the ones we love.
This will not be the end of the entity “Plant Food Supper Club”. It’s just the end of me doing this here, now, in this form. I am not sure what the next steps will be, when or where they will be, but I am sure that I will not give up on this vision as a whole. Please continue to follow us if you are interested in what’s next. There is a lot of support to continue.
In the spirit of gratitude and love, I welcome you to please come dine with us during our last few days here under my care. We really do need your support to transition, especially during these slower times. Come share this time left! We will be open Weds 1/29 & Thurs 1/30 from 11-4. On Friday January 31, our last day open as the current operation, I also invite all locals to come and say goodbye. Louie and I will cook a grand buffet for you as a gesture of thanks from 12pm - 3pm (Donations are welcome but not required). A hug is also very much appreciated at this time if you feel inclined to offer one.
I want to publicly thank my ride-or-die and true partner Louie Felix, bulldog angel Jessie Estrada; witty wizard, Wyatt Priefer; tried and true Katie Bolin; strong and funny kitchen confidant Paige Dobson; diligent and big-hearted prep crew Ty, Steve and Ryan; intelligent and resilient Sierra; gritty and lovely Jazzy; original manifesting right hand lady Caitlin Sickels; bold and effective Lindsey; and the rest of my great staff throughout the years for everything. You know that I love you guys. Ken Gibson, thank you for your unconditional friendship through all the tough times. I also want to thank Dave and Loie Butterfield, for their trust, generosity and wisdom, and the several fellow business owners and beautiful warrior souls in this industry who commiserated with and encouraged me throughout this time: Frank & Lori Ferro; Mel, Chris and Tammy Johnston; Windean Dahleen; Stevie Davis & Jen Muir; Rob & Jen Hume; Nam Kim, Jason & Grace; Paul & Katie White; Michael Wangler, Josh Whitney, Regina Caron, Chef Tanya… you have all been valued friends.
This place will always be special and hugely impactful for me. THANK YOU.
All my love,
Chef Kelly
