HCC Hosts Opening Match of 2026 Women’s Golf Association
of Central Pennsylvania Season
Huntingdon Country Club hosted the opening match of the 2026 Women’s Golf Association of Central Pennsylvania season on Tuesday, June 9. This marked HCC’s first opportunity to host since joining the organization.
The Central Counties association includes eight clubs from across the region: Belles Springs, Centre Hills, Huntingdon, Iron Masters, Lewistown, Mount Union, Nittany, and Philipsburg. Five ladies from each club for a total of 40 ladies participated in this opening match which featured a match play format and a points system to determine the tournament winner.
Belles Springs finished as the day’s points winner. Individual award winners included:
• Stacy Redman (Nittany) — Low Gross Score (80)
• Gloria Carbaugh (Huntingdon) — Low Net Score (69)
• Jill Wagner (Lewistown) — Closest to the Pin, Hole #8
• Annie Rossi (Centre Hills) — Closest to the Pin, Hole #12
“We were incredibly honored to welcome the Central Counties association to Huntingdon Country Club,” said representatives Gloria Carbaugh and Rachelle Hopsicker, who represented HCC within the association. “The day was a wonderful opportunity to showcase not only our beautiful course, but also the hospitality, teamwork, and spirit of our club.”
Club leadership credited the success of the event to the tremendous support of the HCC Women’s Golf League and numerous volunteers who assisted throughout the day.
Special thanks were extended to Gloria Carbaugh and Judy Post for coordinating tournament logistics, Donna Morgan for her guidance and support during planning. And, Annie Rossi for creating the organizational spreadsheets and tournament materials.
Recognition was also given to John Cook, HCC General Manager, Morgan Sample, HCC Events & Catering Manager, and Thomas Wilson and Eric Mykut for assisting with transporting golf bags to and from vehicles and carts, as well as to the entire HCC staff for their outstanding hospitality and service throughout the event.
Additional appreciation was extended to Paul Post for his behind-the-scenes support helping the tournament run smoothly, and to Ed Strickler for ensuring players and guests remained supplied with water and ice during the warm day on the course.
HCC expressed appreciation to all participating golfers and clubs for making the opening event of the season a tremendous success.
