Feges BBQ chef-owner and board member is still processing an incredible weekend in Chicago for the Awards. Read about what she saw, what she learned, and the renewed fire she’s bringing home to Houston.

“We’ve backed Southern Smoke since day one, and that’s because of our absolute faith in , , and their ability to lift people up. Watching them receive the JBF Impact Award on Sunday was incredibly meaningful—and seeing Lindsey on stage looking stronger than ever after her battle with breast cancer felt like perfect timing. I am so full of pride for the SSF staff, a phenomenal group who create miracles daily.

At the Restaurant and Chef Awards, the messaging was just as powerful. of set the tone with the first award of the night, proving how deeply immigrants shape our culinary world. His strength and passion were evident, and I was so proud for Houston—including and of , recognized for Best Chef: Texas.

This year has felt heavy with rising costs, labor struggles, and economic uncertainty, but it’s clear that no one is backing down. The word ‘together’ echoed through every speech and conversation, and I’m returning home with a renewed purpose to find solutions alongside our community.
