I absolutely am a humanitarian. I wish the best for everyone.
As much as we are taxing our Mother Earth, I feel compelled to share this info with you….
As of today, September 8, 2026, the estimated number of people alive on Earth is about 8.314 billion — roughly 8,313,800,000 people. That’s an estimate rather than an exact head count, since births and deaths are happening constantly.

And here’s the interesting part: the most humans who have ever been alive at the same time is essentially right now. The world population is still growing, so today’s population is at or very near the all-time record.

The UN currently projects that population will keep rising for several more decades, reaching about 10.3 billion in the mid-2080s, and then gradually declining.

For perspective, we passed 8 billion only around 2022–2023, depending on which estimation method is used. So there are over 8.3 billion of us sharing the planet tonight.
I feel blessed to have lived the days that I did!

Back in the day, Kona had a little bar in the old industrial area called The Other Side, hosted by Dan and Leroy.

Back then, Kona really was a drinking village with a fishing problem. 😂 And The Other Side was part of what made it special.

Town was small. We all knew each other. You could walk into The Other Side any night of the week without a dime in your pocket—as long as you paid last week’s tab before you started another one! Brilliant system. And if you worked in hospitality, chances were you were there sooner or later… usually sooner.

It was a dive bar, absolutely—but it was also a community.

That’s really what I’ve been thinking about tonight.

I’ve been putting a lot of love into my pizzas and trying to treat pizza as an art. I’m growing my own tomatoes, basil, garlic, onions, thyme, oregano, mint and whatever else I can coax out of this Kaʻū soil. My goal is to make these pizzas as fresh, local and organic as I reasonably can.

I’m still working toward getting Krust Almighty fully set up as a permitted business, so for now I’ve mostly been making pizzas privately for friends and neighbors.

But the spirit behind it is simple: I don’t want my neighbors going hungry.

If you’re nearby, need a pizza, want to talk story, or just feel like having a b**r sometime, give me a shout.
