The best coffee I’ve ever had was in the middle of no where. Roasted in a frying pan, crushed with a copper mallet, then French pressed through a tube sock in fresh boiled mountain stream water.

Every time I change the water filters here, I’m genuinely shocked at what comes through the public water supply. It’s worse than filter basins from wells I’ve worked on in undeveloped countries.

Every home, school, daycare, church and business should filter their water. We filter our water. All of it. It helps with flavor, increases mechanical life of equipment, etc.

One of the best kept secrets to a high quality coffee experiences and general health is water quality. We have that here.

Our very first Salt & Spine Book Fair is officially in the books, and my heart is so full.

A huge thank you to Dave ( & ) for believing in this event and providing the perfect space for our bookish community to gather. We are so grateful for your support and hospitality.

To our incredible vendors: THANK YOU. The heat was no joke, yet you showed up with smiles, amazing products, and the kind of energy that made this event so special. Salt & Spine simply wouldn’t have been the same without each and every one of you.

And to our wonderful patrons—thank you for coming out, shopping small, supporting local businesses, talking books, and helping us create something truly magical. Seeing so many people connecting over books, coffee, and community was everything I dreamed this event could be and more.

What started as an idea became a reality because of all of you, and I am beyond grateful for every person who helped make this first Salt & Spine such a success.

We’re already dreaming about the next one. 📚

Happy World Bicycle Day! Founded in 2024 in Buckroe Beach, Virginia, Hampton Strong is a neighbor-led initiative promoting nonviolence and healthy activities among community youth through donations of refurbished bicycles to any child desiring one.

They partner with a variety of organizations including local high schools, police, and businesses to help repair, transport, store, and donate bikes. Learn more about through their website and social media pages!

Whats coming next? A massive drive thru improvement that will 5x the drive thru speed and create a dedicated bake space as well as location 2, 3, & 4 planned for 2028. We need more people so we can staff expansions with experienced and proven operators.
It’s fun here, pay is competitive, customers are amazing, the owner has ADHD. Must be cool with dad jokes, have reliable transportation and able to work weekends.
You will literally learn everything about coffee here: from variety to altitude, ethical bean sourcing and processing methods, importing logistics and shipment processes, roasting science, brewing methods, speed and quality drink making, marketing psychology, business strategy, and excellence in customer service.
