We’re bringing Kern & Crumb Bakehouse back to the neighborhood this Saturday, October 10th for the Michael Woods Community Yard Sale!

I’ll be loading up the stand with all the baked goodies you’ve been missing, so come shop the yard sale, grab a treat, and say hi!

Because my focus will be on stocking the stand, I’m also limiting pre-orders to just 5 spots this week. Once those 5 are claimed, that’s it! Pre-orders open at 11am!

Come early… because you already know the good stuff won’t last!

For everyone following along with our journey to work with the City of Hampton to create a pathway for cottage bakers to operate temporary bake stands from our properties. Last night, we spoke in front of City Council and pleaded our case for allowing these stands. As we signed up to speak, we were told someone else had signed up to speak about cottage baking as well. Unbeknownst to us, the other person there to speak about bakestands was actually a local business owner with a storefront and was there to speak against our stands. A very honest Mama Duck update🖤

Not a lot of people know but I've quiety battled depression for years. Unfortunately, I’m in another cycle of it. Usually I’m full of baking ideas and questionable levels of ambition. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out what the hell is for dinner and be the Mom my kids need.

Having to pause my stand while we fight for changes with the city hit harder than I really realized. Aside from the big cupcake order, I’ve struggled to even get back into the kitchen and create anything since that letter arrived. Food, cooking and baking have always been my way of getting out of my head and relieving stress, but right now, even that isn’t working.

Mama Duck’s isn’t closing!! I’m giving myself a couple weeks to breathe and hopefully get back to feeling more like my normally unhinged self. I’ll post as I can, and I’ll be back with delicious goodies and some fun seasonal treats (hopefully) very soon.

Depression isn’t shameful, and behind these pretty treats is a real, slightly feral mom who’s having a hard time. Never be afraid to ask for help or just step away to take care of yourself first.

I love and appreciate everyone supporting this little business, even during the quiet parts. For now, less caffeine and pure delusion. More giving myself some grace. Thank you for being here💛

And just like that... 10 dozen cupcakes in 7 different flavors are done, delivered and set up 🙌🏻

If you need me… no you don’t 😅😴

Fiancé’s birthday is tomorrow, so back into the kitchen I go to bake more cupcakes tonight.

And because I clearly don’t have enough going on, I’ll also be spending this week baking, photographing and preparing everything for the fall preorder launch this coming Sunday 🤦🏻‍♀️

So at this point, I am running on sheer determination, a concerning amount of caffeine and pure delusion.
