In 1933, Pop walked into Westbrook Manufacturing to buy furnishings for a full-service restaurant.

When Alton Westbrook asked how much money he had, Pop told him the truth.
One hundred dollars.

Alton said that was enough for the down payment.
That’s how Primos Bake Shop became Primos Café and Bake Shop.

Ninety-three years later, we’re still setting the table.

Our Red Velvet Cupcakes for a Cause were inspired by Addie and her remarkable heart journey, and tomorrow, Saturday, September 26th, is the last day to purchase one.

Half of every Red Velvet Cupcake sold benefits the American Heart Association.

One more day to have something sweet and help us do a little good.

Some stories stay with you. Addie’s is one of them. ❤

Meet Addie, the inspiration behind this month’s Cupcakes for a Cause here at Primos.

Addie was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and had three heart surgeries before she was two years old. After seven years of healthy checkups, she suffered a massive heart attack in January 2023 and was placed on the heart transplant list.

That August, Addie received the gift of a new heart.

Today, she’s a sixth grader at St. Richard, doing well and back to one of the things she loves most: dancing.

So this week, we’re baking with Addie in mind.
Now until the 26th, 50% of every Red Velvet Cupcake sold will benefit the American Heart Association, in support of the Heart Walk and families whose lives have been touched by heart disease.

A cupcake is a small thing.
But sometimes small things can do a little good.
And we think that’s worth sharing.

Some things are worth making room for all year long.

That’s why Cupcakes for a Cause is becoming a year-round tradition at Primos. A few times each year, we’ll bake a special cupcake for a cause close to our community, with a portion of every one sold going directly to that partner.

First up: Red Velvet Cupcakes for a Cause, September 21st-26th. All next week, 50% of every Red Velvet Cupcake sold will benefit the American Heart Association.
