Rep. Mary Miller of Illinois introduced the In God We Trust Act, a House companion bill to Sen. Josh Hawley’s proposal. The legislation would require the General Services Administration to display or inscribe America’s national motto, “In God We Trust,” in a prominent place inside every federal building.

Miller said the motto has served for nearly 70 years as a declaration of faith that helped guide the nation. As America approaches its 250th anniversary, she said the country should not apologize for being “one nation that places its trust in Almighty God.”

For Christians, this is about more than words on a wall. It is a public reminder that America’s blessings, freedoms, and future do not rest in government alone. The phrase “In God We Trust” points back to a truth believers have always held: nations rise and fall, but God remains sovereign.
