Honoring the Durham-raised legal scholar and writer whose groundbreaking work shaped civil rights and gender equality law.
🧡 MONDAY (9/28) — The ’81 March Mule
A nod to “Our Day Out,” North Carolina’s very first official statewide gay and le***an rights march that began and ended right at Five Points.
💛 TUESDAY (9/29) — The Wittman 75
Named for gay liberation pioneer Carl Wittman, who moved to Durham in 1981 and built crucial community health advocacy and organizing networks.
💚 WEDNESDAY (9/30) — The Feminary Gimlet
Inspired by Feminary (1969–1982), a Southern feminist journal from the Durham–Chapel Hill area that circulated q***r literature and ideas nationwide.
💙 THURSDAY (10/01) — The Blueberry Hill Collins
A tribute to one of Durham’s earliest explicitly gay bars—a vital physical safe haven where people gathered, organized, and found each other.
🔵 FRIDAY (10/02) — The Outsouth Bramble
Celebrating the OUTSOUTH Q***r Film Festival (est. 1995) hosted at the Carolina Theatre, a massive cultural anchor for the Southeast.
💜 SATURDAY (10/03) — The LGBTQ Center Royale
Honoring the LGBTQ Center of Durham itself. Our city’s essential hub for resources, connection, and the beautiful reason we are giving back!
