Summer (!) hours are almost here! Starting Wednesday, May 27th you have even more opportunity to fill all your cheese and ice cream needs.

Through Labor Day weekend, we're open 6 days a week - Wednesday - Saturday & Monday from 11 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm.

New flavors! Meet Peppermint Patty, Cookie Trip, and Triple-C.

Peppermint Patty is our take on a popular Upstate NY flavor, it’s our mint base with peppermint candy and chocolate mixed in. This flavor was my grandfather’s favorite. When the local ice cream shop closed we would travel to seek out scoops of this!

Do you remember the mall cookie shops? They were my favorite part of clothes shopping. Given that malls and the cookie kiosk are in short supply all over and especially in Crested Butte (😆), we did an ice cream take! It starts with our vanilla base. Then we add a “healthy” amount of crushed Oreos in, throw in sugar cookie dough, and add a swirl of chopped m&m’s. (Someone declared that mini m&m’s had the wrong ratio of candy coating to chocolate, which led to chopping m&m’s.) And that’s a Cookie Trip!

Last of the new flavors dropping is our Dairy Free Triple-C. This utilizes our coconut, no cream, base. Rather than fight the coconut, we highlight it! In addition to coconut, there’s dairy free caramel and chocolate and it’s all very reminiscent of a certain Girl Scout cookie. The whole package is an utter delight that everyone can enjoy, even the lactose challenged and vegan folks!

Half pints and pints are available in our shop and you’ll find these popping up with all of our retail partners!

On this snowy, May day, it feels appropriate to remind you about our May seasonal flavor - Mud Season! Made with our chocolate base, it has chocolate and yogurt covered pretzel bits and pops of strawberries. Swing through and pick up a pint or two, when they’re gone, they’re gone.

We're hiring! Does eating ice cream make you this happy? Should cheese be it's own food group? Are you dreaming of an ice cream flavor that no one is making? Do you like the challenge of making white food look pretty?

Joyful Rind and Slate River Traders are your kind of people, if any of this makes sense! We're looking for a few cheese lovers and ice cream aficionados to join the team for the summer season. Shifts are varied and flexible, from morning to early evening (or later for events) and start in late May. Duties include prepping food, churning ice cream, taking our ice cream trike to the 4Way, working the front counter of the market, and whatever else comes our way.

Employees are paid $20-25/hour plus tips depending on experience and certifications. Plus, free ice cream and discounts on cheese. If you're interested, send an email to [email protected] and share a joyful moment that involved cheese or ice cream. 🧀 💕
