Heads Up Friends,
From June 21st through June 28th, The Roost Latonia will be quiet.
Not because something is wrong, but because sometimes even good things need a season of rest.
The floors have carried thousands of footsteps and deserve a little respite. Our shoulders have carried trays, worries, hopes, and long days. Our minds have held menus, schedules, inventories, and the endless turning of tomorrow’s wheel.
And beyond these walls are the people we love—the ones who patiently share us with this place.
For more than 3,000 days, Billie has not truly stepped away. Somewhere along the way, constancy became a habit, and habit became a promise she made to herself. But there is wisdom in trusting the process, trusting the balance, and trusting that things can flourish even when we loosen our grip.
That week is an exercise in faith.
Faith that rest is productive.Faith that absence can be healthy.Faith that the work will still be here when we return.
Most of all, it is permission—to not always be available, not always be carrying, not always be tending the fire.
As we look back, we are overwhelmed by how far we’ve come. What began as an idea, a hope, and a whole lotta of sweat equity has become something woven into the fabric of this community. Every season has brought its lessons, its growing pains, its victories, and its grace.
And goodness, we are excited about where we’re headed next.
We’re taking that week to rest, to refill the well, and perhaps to bring back a trunk full of something pretty special.
To every customer who has pushed us forward, cheered us on, shown us patience, shared our stories, filled our tables, and loved us well—thank you, thank you, thank you.
To our crew, who show up every day loving on this space, on one another, and on this community: gosh, we are thankful for you. You are the heartbeat behind the counter, the laughter in the kitchen, the steady hands in the rush, and the reason this place feels like home.
The Roost Latonia will reopen on June 29th with refreshed floors, clearer minds, lighter shoulders, and hearts made fuller by time spent where we belong for a little while.
Until then, may you find a patch of sunshine, a slow morning, a familiar porch, and the people who remind you who you are beyond your work.
With gratitude,
Billie, Heather, The Roost Latonia Family
