Hey Friends of the Exceptional Bean!

My name is Grace Elizabeth Dahmer, and I’m 14 years old. My favorite colors are pink and yellow. I love animals like sloths, turtles, tortoises, and manatees. Reading is my favorite way to relax, but I also enjoy talking a lot and making new friends!
I love playing UNO and other card games. You’ll often see me driving in my yellow, NY-taxi-inspired wheelchair. I enjoy healthy and homemade foods, especially pesto pasta. My coffee of choice is a chocolate Frappuccino! I can’t wait to meet you soon!

The Exceptional Bean is more than a coffee shop in Cookeville, Tennessee. We’re a nonprofit coffee shop creating employment opportunities for adults with disabilities while building community through really good coffee, matcha, espresso drinks, and gathering together.

Every iced latte, coffee date, study session, and local coffee run helps support inclusion, meaningful employment, and a space where everyone belongs.

May your coffee be strong, your coffee dates feel like a dream, and your plans somehow always end up at The Bean.

A little “happy May” from your local coffee shop that believes coffee is really just the excuse, community is the heart of it all.

Every drink you order, every friend you bring, every meeting, study session, post-church latte, random Tuesday stop-in, and “one more coffee?” moment helps us continue building a space where people feel welcomed, known, and connected.

Honestly
 you never really know what a day at The Exceptional Bean is going to look like. And that’s part of what we love most about it.

One day it’s coffee runs and conversations across the counter. The next day PBS shows up and our nonprofit coffee shop in Cookeville turns into a whole production set. Around here, our community doesn’t just support the mission, they become part of it.

That’s the heartbeat of The Exceptional Bean. People showing up for people. Creating meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Building a place across Middle Tennessee where everyone belongs, everyone contributes, and everyone has something valuable to offer.

So whether you come for the coffee, the community, or the unexpected moments that somehow keep happening
 we’re just glad you’re here for it with us.

Who knows what’s happening next.
