What’s Chef Jamie shopping for?
Not the shirt…we’ll discuss that fashion choice another time. 😆

Sunday family dinner was Philly Cheese Steaks loaded with sautéed peppers and onions—but not just any onions. Chef Jamie grabbed the red bag of RealSweet Vidalia onions from Shuman Farms, and yes, we found ours at Publix!
Here’s your tasty little lesson: Vidalia onions are famous for being sweet and mild because they’re grown in a special region of southeast Georgia with sandy, low-sulfur soil. Less sulfur means less bite and more natural sweetness, which makes them perfect for cheesesteaks, burgers, salads, grilling, and caramelizing. Vidalia onions also have to come from a specific Georgia growing region to earn the Vidalia name.

They are Georgia’s state vegetable!
