The Finalists are in… and now it’s your time to vote!

Tatyana and Carolyn are off to the Kent Island Farmers Market in our new van! And while the van may not have a name yet, she’s certainly been keeping busy!

Between our weekly farmers markets, catering events, and feeding the Washington College men’s soccer team, our new Ford Transit is already getting quite the workout!

🎉💗 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ZYE!!!! 💗🎉

Help us wish a very happy 17th birthday to one of our newest team members, Zye!

Zye joined our Modern Stone Age Kitchen family at the end of the summer, and we couldn’t be happier to have her! While balancing life as a student at Kent County High School, she spends her Saturdays and Sundays bringing her bright smile and positive energy to our front-of-house team!

It’s hard to believe she’s only been with us a couple of months because she already feels like such a wonderful part of our MSAK family. We’re so lucky to have her!

And then there was her birthday cake! When we asked Zye what she wanted, she requested BANANA BREAD! Well, you know Bill wasn’t going to make just any banana bread. It took 3 trials, but he finally nailed it: Sourdough Fermented Banana Bread with Cream Cheese Frosting and a Caramelized Banana! Because around here, even birthday cake gets the Modern Stone Age treatment!

Zye, we hope your birthday is as wonderful as you are! We’re so glad you’re part of our team!

🎉 Happy ONE-Year Anniversary, Christian! 🎉

How has it already been a year?! While juggling life as a mom and homeschooling her kids, Christian has spent the past year sharing her incredible talents with us at Modern Stone Age Kitchen!

Whether she’s rocking it on the line, stretching pizzas for Friday nights, or making cheese from scratch, Christian is one of those people who can jump into just about any role and make it look effortless!

But what we love most about Christian is the energy and spirit she brings to everything she does. You can instantly tell when she’s in the building because her positivity is contagious! She has a way of making the entire kitchen feel a little brighter, and we’re so grateful to have her as part of our team.

Christian, thank you for everything you’ve brought to our kitchen this past year! We can’t wait to see what year TWO has in store! 💗

We’ve been busy in the bakery getting ready for one of our FAVORITE fall traditions, and let’s just say there’s a very good reason to get out of bed this morning!

🍎 Five days old and already apple picking! ❤️

That's Brianna, nestled into a basket of freshly picked apples just five days after she was born! Looking back through old family pictures reminded us just how much we've always loved fall and all the memories we've made together over the years. From apple picking and pumpkin patches to corn mazes, archery, and hunting, getting outside and experiencing the season has always been something we've enjoyed doing as a family. And now that our kids are grown, these pictures are even more special!

And it looks like we're in for a BEAUTIFUL fall weekend here on the Eastern Shore, which makes this the perfect time to share Bill's latest blog, "Don't Just Watch Fall Happen." 🍂

Bill talks about why fall is about so much more than colorful leaves and cooler temperatures. It's about getting outside, paying attention to the world around us, and reconnecting with where our food comes from. Whether you're heading into the woods for hunting season, visiting a local farm, picking apples, gathering persimmons, or bringing home a squash you've never cooked before, there are so many ways to experience everything this season has to offer.

And bringing that food home is only the beginning! Learning to cook, ferment, and preserve what the season provides is part of the experience, too. It's something we've always tried to share with our kids, and looking back at these pictures reminds us just how meaningful those experiences have been.

So take advantage of this beautiful weekend, get outside with the people you love, and make some memories of your own. Don't just watch fall happen. Participate in it! 🍁

🎉 Happy Birthday, Sandra!🎉

One of the greatest joys of building our Modern Stone Age family is watching our team members grow, learn new skills, and take on new challenges. And Sandra is such a wonderful example of that!

Sandra started with us as a dishwasher and has grown into a prep chef! These days, you might catch her working the line during the week, whipping up a batch of our homemade mayonnaise, or jumping in wherever she’s needed. She’s always willing to learn, always ready to help, and always brings the warmest smile with her. We absolutely LOVE having her as part of our team! 💗

Of course, birthdays around here mean a special request for Chef Bill, and Sandra gave him a fun challenge this year! Instead of a traditional birthday cake, she requested a special ice cream dessert. And Bill certainly delivered!

🍒 Vanilla Black Cherry Ice Cream - made with fermented milk and cream and sweetened with maple syrup, topped with our homemade magic shell, fermented whipped cream, a house-made maraschino cherry, and beautiful dried flower petals from Wildly Native. All served in a freshly made sourdough waffle bowl!

And because Bill couldn’t stop there, he made individual sourdough waffle cones for EVERYONE on the team so we could all celebrate Sandra with a little ice cream of our own! 🍦

Fermented dairy. Zero refined sugar. 100% scratch-made with real ingredients. And a whole lot of love!

Happy Birthday, Sandra! We’re so proud of how much you’ve grown and so grateful for the joy, hard work, and beautiful smile you bring to our kitchen every day. Here’s to another wonderful year! 💗🎂

Well, this was quite unexpected but pretty darn cool!!

We went to the Governor’s Buy Local Cookout ready to serve our All-Maryland Eat Like a Human Smash Burger, and when Governor Moore made his way to our table, he didn’t just try one - he put on gloves and jumped in to help make a round of burgers!!

Bill and Zach showed him how we were putting everything together while Christina and Tatyana helped keep things moving, and pretty quickly we had a whole little burger assembly line going!

It was such a fun way to share what we do and, even better, to do it while celebrating Maryland food and the farmers and producers behind it.

And judging by Christina’s “Looks like you’ve done this before” at the end, he caught on pretty quickly!

Definitely one of those moments we won’t forget❤️💛🖤

WE WON THE GOVERNOR’S BUY LOCAL COOKOUT!!!

Still processing what an incredible night it was. So, so proud of our team and beyond excited to bring this one home over the bridge to Chestertown!

So many pictures, videos and stories to share - including Governor Wes Moore jumping behind the grill with Bill and Zach! 😂🔥

You asked. And asked. And asked. 😂

So… SOURDOUGH PANCAKES ARE BACK!!! 🥞

When we rearranged our kitchen a few months ago, we had to say goodbye to our big griddle which unfortunately meant saying goodbye to Sunday pancakes, too.

But you all have NOT let us forget about them!

So we found a way to make it happen. We brought in a smaller countertop griddle and starting TODAY at 9am, sourdough pancakes are officially back on Sundays!

Our cooking surface is a little smaller than it used to be, so be patient with us as we get back into our pancake groove. But really, there’s only one thing that matters . . .

SOURDOUGH PANCAKES ARE BACK! 🥞

Tag someone who needs to grab a fork and join you on Sunday mornings starting at 9am!
