Happy Birthday, Taylor! 🎉

Today we're celebrating Taylor! For the past year and a half, she's been a wonderful part-time member our front-of-the-house team, greeting customers with a warm smile and making everyone feel welcome.

For her birthday dessert, Taylor requested a fermented chocolate espresso cake with a chocolate mascarpone whipped cream made from fermented cream. Thanks to Judi for making this masterpiece!

As Taylor celebrates another birthday, she's also getting ready to begin an exciting new chapter with a full-time position. We're so happy for her and can't wait to see all that this next adventure brings.

If you're in this week, be sure to wish Taylor a very happy birthday! We're so grateful for the time she spent with us and for everything she's brought to our team. We hope this year is filled with happiness, new opportunities, and all the best things ahead!! ❤️🎂

Every once in a while, an article comes along that perfectly captures something we've been trying to share for years.

We're honored to share an article from The Epoch Times on the benefits of eating nose-to-tail. Not only does it highlight the nutritional, environmental, and ethical importance of using the whole animal, but it also features insights from two people we deeply admire: Sally Fallon Morell, founder of the Weston A. Price Foundation, and Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm. To have Bill included alongside these pioneers in the real food movement is truly humbling.

At Modern Stone Age, we've long believed that food is about so much more than calories or protein. Traditional foodways, nutrient density, honoring the whole animal, supporting local farmers, and reconnecting people with where their food comes from are at the heart of everything we do. This article does a beautiful job of explaining why those principles matter now more than ever.

We hope you'll take a few minutes to read it and share it with someone who may be curious about why we make bone broth, teach butchery, use organ meats, and advocate for a more complete relationship with our food.

Four years ago, Sarah took a sourdough class with us. At the end of the class, she asked a simple question: "Are you hiring?"

The rest is history.

Since then, Sarah has become an essential part of our bakery team. Her dedication, dependability, warm personality, and ever-present smile have helped shape the bakery into what it is today.

If you've enjoyed a loaf of sourdough, a bagel, a pizza crust, or just about anything that has come out of our ovens over the past four years, there's a very good chance Sarah had a hand in making it happen!

We're incredibly grateful for all that she does - not just for the products she helps create, but for the positive energy and kindness she brings to our team.

Thank you, Sarah, for four amazing years. We are lucky to have you and can't wait to see what the next chapter brings!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there!

Today we celebrate the men who show up day after day- often without recognition - providing support, guidance,
encouragement, and a steady presence for the people who count on them.

A special shoutout to our MSAK Dads, Bill and Zach!! As the leaders of our kitchen, bakery, and production teams, they truly are the glue that holds this place together. They’re the ones making sure inventory is ordered, pHs are where they need to be, production is on track, equipment is running, and our team has what they need to succeed. Much of what they do happens behind the scenes, but their impact is felt in every loaf of bread, every meal served, and every person who walks through our doors!!

Whether you’re a dad, grandfather, stepdad, coach, mentor, teacher, or someone who has simply made a difference in a young person’s life, today is for you.

Enjoy your day- you’ve earned it💙

Reviews like this never get old ❤️

When we opened Modern Stone Age Kitchen, we believed people deserved food made differently - food made from scratch, sourced from farms we know, prepared using traditional methods, and free from the industrial ingredients that have become so commonplace.

That means long-fermented sourdough. Fermented potatoes. House-made cream cheese and yogurt. Pastured meats. No seed oils. No shortcuts.

It's not always the easiest path, but it's the path we've chosen.

A huge thank you to Ted Wray for taking the time to share his experience. We especially appreciated his recognition that quality food doesn't have to come with fine dining prices:

*"I spend more at Chipotle for a lunch entree than I do here for food that is 10x better in terms of both quality and taste."*

We're incredibly grateful for every guest who supports what we're building, for the farmers and producers who make it possible, and for a community that values real food made with intention.

Thank you for being part of the journey, Ted!!

Happy 2-Year Anniversary, Tyler!

Two years ago, Tyler joined our team as a sophomore in high school. Today, he’s a high school graduate getting ready to head off to college!.

Over the past two years, Tyler has done just about everything around here. You’ve probably seen him running food, helping guests up front, tackling mountains of dishes, jumping on the line when needed, and always stepping in wherever an extra set of hands was required. No matter the task, he’s approached it with a positive attitude and a willingness to help.

This month marks another special milestone: Tyler recently graduated as our first Youth Apprentice from Queen Anne’s County High School, earning recognition through the Maryland Youth Apprenticeship Program. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and the distinction he has received through the program, which is supported by the Maryland Department of Labor and the Maryland Department of Education.

It’s been a privilege to watch Tyler grow over the last two years - not just as a member of our team, but as a young man. And while we’re pretty sure he’s grown a couple of feet since he started, we’ve been even more impressed by his growth in confidence, skills, and leadership.

Tyler, thank you for your hard work, reliability, and willingness to do whatever needs to be done. We are grateful for everything you’ve contributed to our team and excited to see what comes next.

Congratulations on your graduation, your youth apprenticeship completion, and the exciting adventure ahead. We’re cheering you on every step of the way!
