Meet Gordon Coleman!✨
Gordon is our IT Director and has been part of the Tamarack Marketplace team since December 2016. After years of supporting the organization through various technology needs, he stepped into the role of IT Director in January 2023.
Something people may not realize about Gordon's job is that it involves much more listening than talking. While many assume IT is all about troubleshooting computers, coding, or fixing technical issues, Gordon believes the most important part of his work is understanding the people behind the technology. “Before we can implement a solution, upgrade a system, or secure a network, I need to truly understand the human challenges behind the technology,” he explains. “Sometimes the best technical fix is simply a conversation that helps uncover a problem no one else saw coming.”
When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Gordon shared that he loves helping people solve problems and learn new things. Whether he's troubleshooting a printer, explaining a complex concept, or brainstorming creative ideas, he finds satisfaction in making someone's day a little easier and helping them see things from a new perspective.
One of the most valuable skills he has gained throughout his career at Tamarack Marketplace is the ability to quickly adapt to new information. Technology is constantly evolving, and Gordon enjoys learning about new tools, software, and trends while finding ways to explain them in a way that others can easily understand.
What makes Tamarack Marketplace special to Gordon is the sense of belonging it creates. “Unlike a typical retail or office environment, Tamarack is a gathering place where families meet, local artisans thrive, and culture is shared every day,” he says.
One of his favorite memories at Tamarack Marketplace is being part of the return of festivals. After a period without those community gatherings, seeing the crowds return, hearing live music fill the air, and watching visitors and vendors come together again was a moment he won't soon forget.
