WELL, THIS IS PRETTY BLOODY COOL…

Our Sunday Roast Lamb Pie won a BRONZE MEDAL! 🥉

Yep. Our little pie, made right here in Whangārei, went off to the Bakels New Zealand Supreme Pie Awards and got 3rd place out of hundreds of pies judged across NZ!!!

And we are ridiculously proud 🥹

We created this pie around everything we love about gathering with loved ones for a proper Sunday roast… Slow cooked melt in your mouth NZ lamb, in a rich gravy with some peas and carrots, mash potato and mint sauce of course! We have managed to pack that into beautiful pastry - all made from scratch by the brilliant kitchen crew.

Which means you can now legitimately say:

“I’m just popping into Hello Pickle for some award-winning Kai.”

Even if you’re actually eating it in your car with pastry all down your shirt 😂

Massive love to our team who put so much care into the food we make every day, and to all of you who keep buying our pies, telling your mates about us and backing our little local business 💚

Hospitality is about looking after people.
We spend our days doing that for others, so every now and then it’s important to let someone else look after us. Last week our Hello Pickle whānau headed to Aqua for a team dinner, and it couldn’t have been a better choice.

Running a hospitality business is never just about the food. It’s about the people who turn up, day after day, bringing kindness, consistency, laughter, resilience, and so much heart. I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better team.

To my beautiful humans… thank you. Thank you for caring so deeply about our customers, each other, and the little things that make Hello Pickle what it is. You are the reason people keep coming back, and I never take that for granted. I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside you.

We chose to celebrate at Aqua,Restaurant and Bar, and wow… what an experience.

The food was outstanding, the cocktails were exceptional, and the service was everything hospitality should be. Warm, attentive, genuine, and effortless. It’s always inspiring to be looked after by another business that’s clearly passionate about creating an incredible experience for its customers.

Hospitality can be a tough industry, and I truly believe we should champion each other when it’s deserved. Aqua, thank you for making our team feel so welcome and so well looked after. You absolutely nailed it.

Here’s to backing local, celebrating great people, and remembering to stop every now and then to appreciate the incredible humans who make it all possible 🥂💚
