🎄 Christmas & Boxing Day Closure 🎄

The Mapua Village Bakery will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

We just want to say a huge thank you to our wonderful Mapua community for all the support, smiles, and chats over the months. It truly means so much to us and we’re grateful to be part of such a special village.

Thank You, Māpua!

What a fantastic first week at Māpua Village Bakery & Café! We’re Lelum and Shani, locals proud to call this beautiful place home. While continuing to operate Taste of Sri Lanka in Nelson, Lelum brings 19 years of bakery experience here in New Zealand to ensure you enjoy the best quality and service. We’re excited to bring fresh, quality food and keep the bakery’s unique flavours alive.

We’ve loved meeting so many of you and look forward to serving your favourite classics with the same care and heart.

A Fond Good-bye to Mapua Village Bakery.

We took the reins of the bakery nearly two years ago and loved it. We loved the staff, the bakery and especially our customers. We will always be proud of the quality product produced by our talented bakers and the rest of our staff.

While we learned heaps, and had a lot of ideas moving forward, an offer came along that was hard to look past. We are handing the bakery over to a much younger owner who plans to work on site; something we were unable to do because of our other businesses. He’s also a trained chef and baker so will bring the kind of new ideas to the bakery we could not.

For now, we will have a quick (and very rare) holiday. But we can’t wait to get back and see what Lelum and Shani do, especially with the cafe.

Happy Mother's Day!

We're hosting a special High Tea on Mother's Day, Sunday the 11th. at 3pm. $25 for 4 sweet courses and 4 savoury courses along with a wide selection of specialty teas and our usual teas.

So treat your mum to a High Tea, or if you're a mum then treat yourself, you've earned it. And even if you're not a mum, you can come along just because it's a delectable high tea!
