Zeki, Clare, Ali and Michelle have opened a little eatery inspired by the Aegean coastlines of Turkey and Greece (the boys' old stomping grounds - both Ali and Zeki from Western Turkey, and the girls seasoned food travellers in their own rights). Another fit-out designed and built by Clare - destined to be a great little local gathering place. Tasty, authentic food from Zeki's hands, and a sunset oriented posi make for some convivial evenings ahead!

Lokānta, meaning ‘local eating house’ in Turkish, is an unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant, cooking homestyle food with its origins in the Aegean (coastal Greek and Turkish) and other parts of the eastern Mediterranean. Come hungry, and with a few people so you can share the plethora of tastes. Don’t eat too fast, and leave just enough room for a little something sweet 😍🇬🇷🇹🇷🇱🇧

I hadn't been to Lokanta for ages, so I took a few friends along who'd never been before. And boy, was I glad I did!

Zeki and Claire are fantastic hosts, and they've got a new menu. What a meal we had!

We tried loads of dishes, and I could go on about every one of them, but just have a look at the photos and videos. The Ottoman Lamb Neck on eggplant bechamel in particular was absolutely outstanding.

If you haven't been to Lokanta, you've got to go. I really mean that. And when you walk in, make sure you tell Zeki and Claire that Simon sent you.

Sizzled in Loads of Olive Oil … Dunk your chargrilled Turkish pide bread in that - the tell me if you even need the prawns!! Haha - so good! 🍤🦐🍤🦐🍤

Light enough to still enjoy after a big meal at Lokanta! Greek yoghurt pannacotta, with wild berry and pomegranate syrup - just a hint of sweetness ❤️🤍❤️

I had one of those incredible teachers, who read Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’ aloud to us (at the tender age of 12) in a very dramatic voice - and the story has stayed with me ever since! Influencing us in more ways than one (note: Siren’s Song fish dish on menu, Odyssey w**es and Homer Sauvignon Blanc on the w**e list… and if you check out all the photos and pictures on the wall at Lokanta, you will get a definite feeling for epic journeys around the Aegean

Due to high demand this is staying ion the Specials Board meantime. Unctuous and satisfying, the epitome of winter food. Yep, they know how to cook beef in the Ta**us mountains, and Chef Zeki learned first hand in his years trucking all over Turkey. He would ask the locals in every region where to go to eat the best local food.. ending up with a taste and a talent for only the best 👌🏼👌🏼
