The Sky Tower is celebrating the Year of the Horse with a spectacular projection as part of its festivities.

Ten Thousand Galloping Horses brings the spirit of the Horse to life through large-scale animated art, illuminating the skyline in a powerful tribute to the new year.

Blending traditional cultural heritage with contemporary creative expression.

Through the fusion of classical symbolism and modern visual language, the horse is reimagined as a powerful emblem of vitality, prosperity, and forward momentum.

The beautiful artwork is by renowned Chinese artist Han Meilin and Award-winning works from the Global Zodiac Design Competition.

In Meilin's work, the horse transcends representation to embody resilience, cultural continuity, and an enduring spirit that resonates across generations.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their 福 (FU) artwork for display on the Sky Tower.

The Ten Thousand Galloping Horses, is a highlight of Sky Tower’s Festival projections, welcoming the Year of the Horse with light, movement and uplifting energy.

It was a big day for Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa!

Last night the Sky Tower lit up to mark a milestone ten years in the making – the grand opening of Auckland’s newest event venue, the New Zealand International Convention Centre

From its first announcement in 2013 to the opening, the journey has been shaped by resilience and collaboration. With more than 120 events already confirmed in 2026, thousands will gather here each year to learn, connect, and celebrate.

More than a venue, NZICC is a beacon for the future of events in Aotearoa — a place that reflects who we are and what we can achieve.
