We saved one of our favourite details for last.

These BARE concrete basins are cast and hand-finished right here in New Zealand, so every single one is unique, all natural texture and understated character. Paired with brushed nickel Uno wall mixers and set against dark tile and warm timber, they bring a real sense of craft to the space. It feels like the right note to end our Muriwai series on. The ALICE Ceramica Equilibrium basin comes out of Civita Castellana, Italy's ceramic district, where it is cast and hand-finished through a nine-stage process and glazed with an antibacterial Aliglaze+ finish.

Above it, ZucchettiDesign's Pan S. Zucchetti has been making tapware since 1929, when Alfredo Zucchetti opened a small workshop in Valduggia. Pan S is their reworking of the Pan collection first designed by Palomba Serafini in 2005, with the body, spout and lever now flowing as one continuous form.

Nearly a century of tapware, and it still looks like it arrived this morning.

There is something different about a home a designer builds for herself. Every choice is personal, and nothing is there to please anyone else.

Sculpted Gathering has just been named a finalist in the Colour category at the HOME Interior of the Year Awards, and was recently featured in the Manawatū Standard. It is a home built around colour, sculpted form and generous spaces made for people to gather in.

We were proud to supply the bathware throughout: chrome fittings and an Elementi Verona wall vanity in the main bathroom, and a gun metal palette running through the ensuite and powder room.

Over the coming weeks we will share a closer look at each of the three bathrooms.

The hardest-working fitting in the house, twice over.

We used the Uno gooseneck mixer with pull-out spray in both the main kitchen and the butler's pantry, so the two spaces feel connected without being matchy. The brushed nickel finish keeps it soft against the dark joinery and the brick splashback, and the pull-out spray makes light work of the everyday. Framed here by that endless Muriwai view, it's proof that the practical details deserve as much thought as the showpieces.
