The Joy of Sharing a Sadhya:

Sunday, our little corner of Taamaraa felt a little more like home.

We had the privilege of hosting a private Onam Sadhya for a small gathering of friends, cherished patrons and well-wishers. We deliberately kept it intimate, with just 40 guests, so that the Sadhya could be experienced in the warmth and ease of our ground floor; unhurried, informal and close.

And somehow, that was exactly what we hoped it would be.

There was laughter, conversation, generous helpings of food, and the kind of comfort that comes when people sit together over a meal with no hurry to leave. Most importantly, there was so much genuine appreciation for the food. Our chefs received compliments that truly touched us, and seeing people enjoy every part of the Sadhya made all the hours of preparation worthwhile.

For us at Taamaraa, feeding people has always been something deeply personal. There is a very special kind of joy in preparing food for others, watching them savour it, and knowing that something made with our hands has brought them happiness. That feeling, the contentment of having fed someone well, is perhaps one of the simplest and purest joys we know.

Onam Sadhya, in particular, has quietly become one of our favourite occasions at Taamaraa. Our chefs look forward to it with a childlike excitement, taking immense pride in bringing together the many flavours, textures and traditions that make a Sadhya so special.

Sunday reminded us once again why we love doing this.

We were also deeply touched by the many enquiries we received afterwards asking if we would host another Sadhya. Many of those messages came from guests who had experienced our Sadhya last year, and to know that they remembered it, returned for it, and wanted to experience it again means more to us than we can put into words.

Next year, we hope to plan it well in advance and open the doors to many more of you who would like to share this beautiful tradition with us.

For now, a heartfelt *thank you* to everyone who joined us yesterday — for your presence, your warmth, your kind words, and for receiving our food with such wholehearted appreciation.

You made our day very special.

"I absolutely loved the vibe at Taamara Utrecht. What really stood out, along with the ambience, was the warmth in their service. It genuinely feels like you are being fed at home.

As an Indian, I can confidently vouch for how authentic the food is here.

I am a street food lover, so I tried the pani puri, chicken biryani, chicken roast and plain dosa. Everything was on point, full of flavour and true to its roots.

I will definitely be visiting again. Thanks Sangeeta for being such a lovely host!"

August in Utrecht means one thing: finding an open spot on a terrace, gathering your people, and letting the afternoon stretch out over good food and good company. Borrelen, but make it an event.

This summer, skip the bitterbal and let India take the table. At Taamaraa, our Indian tapas are made exactly for moments like these, small plates, big flavors, meant to be shared.
From sunny grilled paneer, to crispy Pani Puri, to spiced lamb skewers and everything in between, there's enough on the menu to keep the table happy for hours.

Indian cuisine has always understood something that others are still catching up to: a great meal should work for everyone at the table. No meat? There's a whole world of flavors waiting for you. No alcohol? Same story..

At Taamaraa, abstaining never means settling. Our non-alcoholic drinks are as carefully considered as everything else on the menu; vibrant, layered, and made to hold their own alongside the food.

Thirsty? Reserve your table via the link in our bio.
