Great coffee begins long before it reaches our roastery. It begins at origin with the people, partnerships and decisions behind every bean.

We recently welcomed Priscilla Daniel from DRWakefield to Java Republic for a morning of learning and conversation. With more than 18 years’ experience in the coffee industry, Priscilla shared her expertise on the coffee supply chain, origin projects, and the complexities of global coffee pricing and logistics.

DRWakefield is a third-generation, 100% family-owned green coffee importer and one of Java Republic’s longest-standing partners. For more than 20 years, they have helped us source exceptional coffees from farmers and producers around the world. 🌎

Working with more than 300 suppliers across 25 origins and offering over 400 different coffees, their focus extends far beyond sourcing. They invest in long-term relationships with producers and support meaningful projects within coffee-growing communities.

Each year, members of the Java Republic team travel to origin with DRWakefield to meet the farmers and producers behind our coffees. These visits allow us to see firsthand the challenges facing the communities there, strengthen our relationships with producers and better understand how we can support them.

Thank you to Priscilla for such an insightful morning, and to the entire DRWakefield team for more than 20 years of a partnership built on shared values, trusted relationships and an unwavering commitment to quality. 💜

Cillian, our Roastery Team Leader, had a fantastic time at the Bristol Coffee Festival over the weekend getting to meet people representing the entire industry; bean to cup! Keep swiping to see how he was even lucky enough to get a photo with James Hoffmann ! 😉

Cillian spent his day chatting to green coffee suppliers and roasters, learning about different origins and the emerging challenges they face, and most importantly, getting to try some local roasts from Bristol and the rest of the UK. He was ever so kind to bring us back a few samples from Dino's Coffee, Zero to One Coffee and Curve Roasters which we’re really looking forward to brewing!

Thanks to the Bristol Coffee Festival for a great day and to all of the exhibitors for helping keep Cillian caffeinated and up to date with all things coffee!
