Need to thank someone for doing a small favour?
Maybe they helped you move a sofa!
Maybe they fed the cat!
Maybe they spent 20 minutes fixing a problem that would have taken you three days and several angry phone calls!

Traditionally, you’d buy them a bottle of wine, some flowers, or a box of chocolates.

But let’s be honest…
Half the population doesn’t drink wine,Flowers die and chocolates mysteriously disappear before they ever reach the intended recipient.

We've done it again...

Despite promising ourselves we'd slow down on buying coffee gear, another Velo order somehow found its way through the door. This time we went bigger, stronger and with significantly less self-control.

We've stocked up on gift sets, coffee cups, Aeropresses and enough delicious coffee (beans and ground) to keep the nation functioning for at least a few days.

Pop in for a nosey, ask us any questions, grab a book, and while you're here have a look at the beautiful artwork on our walls by the incredibly talented Mellie Spurling.

Come for the coffee. Stay because you've accidentally spent 20 minutes looking at coffee gadgets.

We can't quite believe it, but this weekend marks 2 years since we opened our doors.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has called in for a coffee, grabbed some lunch, brought friends and family along, or simply stopped by to say hello. The support we've received from our community over the last two years has meant more to us than you'll ever know.

Being part of this town and getting to see so many familiar faces every day is something we're incredibly grateful for. We've loved serving you these past two years and hope to be here for many more.

We've got a few menu changes coming over the next few weeks to keep things interesting, and we're also working on something completely new that we're really excited about.

Keep an eye on this space – we can't wait to share it with you.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Saturday Kitchen Porter to join the team at De Barras Kitchen and Coffee.

Our current KP started with us at 16 and, after two years with the business, is now progressing into a cooking role within the kitchen. We pride ourselves on developing staff and creating opportunities for growth.

This role would ideally suit a 16–17 year old looking for steady weekend work in a supportive, fast-paced environment. The position offers year-round Saturday hours, with additional shifts available during school holidays and public holidays.

Kitchen Porter duties include washing dishes, maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen, clearing tables in the café, and completing the full kitchen close-down at the end of the shift. Following training, the role will also involve some food preparation tasks and, for anyone interested in gaining wider hospitality experience, we would also be happy to provide some front of house training.

We’re proud of our positive working atmosphere, strong team culture, and long staff retention. If you have an interest in food, hospitality, or learning how a professional kitchen operates, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and build valuable skills for the future.
