It’s been a pretty exciting and busy day in the Brewery for Aidan today!
With the arrival of fresh hops from hop specialists Charles Faram & Co Ltd, meant excitement was most defiantly brewing at the Mill, as using fresh hops is by far one of the highlights of the brewing year. 😆
This year the harvested fresh hops are UK grown, Cascade hops. Cascade hops are a British-grown version of the classic American Cascade hop. While they share the same name and lineage, Cascade UK hops offer subtle differences due to soil, climate, and farming practices. Grown primarily in southern England, this hop delivers bright citrus, floral notes, and a smoother, more delicate finish than its U.S. counterpart.
Developed in Oregon, USA with parentage derived from Fuggle and Serebrianker Cascade was released in 1971. It was grown and first introduced into British production in 2002.Primarily used as an aroma hop, Cascade UK rounded citrus, stone fruit and floral characteristics and delivers a smooth integrated bitterness. It delivers similar aroma notes to US Cascade but is slightly less intense.
This years brew of Fresh Hop will be out on draught in the Tap Room from Friday 2nd October, so save the date!!🍺😁
