Today we are celebrating the nation’s favourite dish…

The humble fish and chips! 🐟

Golden, crispy batter made with local ale, flaky, fresh fish, chunky Massey’s Farm chips, homemade Tartare sauce, and not-so-mushy peas. We are proud of many things here at the Fitz, but our fish and chips might just be at the very top of that list 🙌🏼

Pictured is our classic Local Ale Battered Haddock and Massey’s Farm Chips, along with our Crispy Breaded Plaice special that featured on our recent Seafood Week menu.

Who else thinks you can’t beat the humble fish and chips?

Meet the port we’ve been obsessed with this May🍷

Warre’s Otima 10-Year-Old Tawny… it’s velvety smooth, beautifully rounded, with notes of dried fruit, caramel and toffee and an elegant, lingering finish.

Everything a great port should be.

Pair it with a cheese board, or our Pan-Roasted Lamb Chops, or Caramelised Fig and Olive Tapenade.

It also works exceptionally well in a Negroni… Warre’s Otima, Cholmondeley Dry Gin, red vermouth and Campari with a twist of orange… you’ve got to try it!

But don’t hang about, May is nearly over, and so is this one.

Not a wine drinker? We’ve got you covered during our ‘Fish at the Fitz’ Seafood and Wine Week 🐟

Our very own Tim ~ the Fitz’s accredited Beer Sommelier and Deputy Manager (he passed his Guild of Beer Sommeliers exam with flying colours and we couldn’t be prouder!) has been putting his expertise to good use this week by finding the perfect beer pairing for our seafood menu.

And his pick? Non-Alcoholic Lemon Lager 🍋🍺

Tim’s chosen it to sit alongside our Crispy Breaded Plaice… golden fried, served with Massey’s Farm chips, fresh spring salad and homemade tartare sauce.

The zesty citrus notes of the Lucky Saint cut right through the crunch and complement the freshness of the fish beautifully.

Because a great food and drink pairing should be enjoyed by everyone, even if you’re the designated driver, prefer something soft, or just aren’t a fan of wine! 🙌

🐟 Fish at the Fitz is well underway… and the kitchen is on fire (in the best possible way!)

Our Seafood & Wine Week runs until Saturday 23rd May, and if you haven’t been in yet, here’s your sign.

Tonight’s dish we are featuring from the delicious menu is… Pan-Fried Monkfish Tail 🤍

Served with silky aubergine purée, parmentier potatoes, pickled samphire and a beautiful sauce verte…this is coastal cooking at its very best, right here in the heart of Swynnerton.

Paired with Vila Nova Vinho Verde Rosé, Portugal 🍷… soft, fruity and wonderfully easy-drinking, made from the local Espadeiro grape. Try a glass alongside this dish for the perfect pairing.

Our seafood is delivered fresh daily and there are still a few nights left to enjoy it.

Our team are a hardworking and friendly bunch, and you’ll be made to feel very welcome in this role that really is the backbone of our busy kitchen.

From Tuesday 19th to Saturday 23rd May, we’re celebrating seafood and wine with a dedicated menu our kitchen team are very proud of.

With dishes including king scallops, monkfish tail, and crispy salt cod fritters… all of our produce is freshly delivered daily and cooked with skill by our talented kitchen team.
