Hey folks, anyone out there interested in full or part-time kitchen work at the Ferry Inn please get in touch, we are still recruiting for this season through to October and have CDP and Commis roles available. We have accommodation if required for anyone looking to move here for the season but would be delighted to hear from local folk - maybe chefs already working that fancy a change or extra hours or good home cooks that would like to try commercial kitchen work. Essential preparations for the Orkney Folk Festival well underway. Over 3000 pints ready for dispense including plenty local gear - Orkney Gold, Dark Island, Red MacGregor, Cliff Edge, Island Life, Muckle , Ola, Scapa Special, Orkney Session, and not forgetting Lumi alcohol free Orkney pale ale. And there’s the black stuff of course, T, Belhaven Best and Strongbow to top up the offering. The cellarman is needing a pint now. Beers and Cheers.

Orkney Brewery’s Northern Light on the hand pump tonight alongside Scapa Special from Swannay, also Gold, Lumi, Dark Island, Burn the Boats and Ola Lager from the keg. Two more hand pumps being added to the bar this week to add to the local cask range. Delighted to continue to encourage folk to drink local!

BAR SHIFTS AVAILABLE- With the Folk Festival just round the corner is there anyone that might fancy experiencing the trad vibe from behind the bar! Perhaps not for the faint-hearted, but if there’s anybody with bar experience that fancies a few hours behind the bar to help out at the Ferry or Royal, have a bit of fun, enjoy fabulous sessions and get paid for it….. then please get in touch. We will have shifts available Friday, Saturday and Sunday 22-24 May. Cheers.

Hi folks, we still have a vacancy for a Breakfast chef/CDP for the season. Looking for a minimum of 3 breakfast shifts and 2 evenings. Can be full time ( even up to 45 hours per week) or fewer hours if that suits better. Happy to discuss terms. And we are off! The Ferry Inn Grill is open for the season….starting today through to Sunday to coincide with the Orkney Blues Festival, then Tuesday- Saturday thereafter. We hope to extend the hours once fully staffed up but for now 12-2.30. Food bought at the van can be taken inside or drinks taken outside depending on the weather….though our forecast is for permanent sunshine for the season. Come by for burgers, fish n chips, Mac n cheese, seafood chowder, mussels, prawns and mackerel when on the go and so on! Summer’s started at the Ferry.
