Phew, it is an absolute scorcher out there today! ☀️🥵🔥

With the temperatures soaring, our kitchen has officially turned into a proper oven. To look after the safety and well-being of our hardworking kitchen team, we have made the decision to close the kitchen today (Wednesday 24th June).

We apologise sincerely for any disappointment or grumbling tummies this may cause!

🍻 The Bar is Open!
Don't worry, you can still escape the heat with us. The bar is fully open and stocked with plenty of ice, crisp pints, chilled wines and refreshing soft drinks to help you cool down in the shade. 🧊🍷

A Message from the Landlord and Southdowns Pantry Kitchen Team: Remembering Nigel Midhurst

It is with a heavy heart that we share some temporary changes to our opening hours for tomorrow, Friday 29th May 2026.

On this day, the team and family will be coming together to celebrate the life of our dearest friend, Nigel Midhurst.

Nigel was a fundamental character who helped shape The Swan into the pub it is today. His warm, welcoming aura will be sorely missed by staff and regulars alike, and he leaves behind a legacy of genuine joy and love brought to all who knew him.

To allow our team to pay their respects and celebrate his remarkable life, our opening hours tomorrow will be as follows:

Friday 29th May: The pub will open at 3:00pm for drinks only. The kitchen will be closed all day.

Saturday 30th May: Normal bar hours resume. Kitchen open 12:00pm – 3:00pm for our weekend menu.

Sunday 31st May: Normal bar hours resume. Kitchen open 12:00pm – 3:00pm for Traditional Homemade Roasts.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience these adjusted Friday hours may cause, and we thank you deeply for your understanding.

Tomorrow evening, and across the entire weekend, we will be raising a glass to you, Nigel. Rest in peace, dear friend. 🍺✨
