As another busy summer in Pennan comes to an end, we’ll soon be saying goodbye to some of our brilliant summer staff — which means we have space for a few new faces to join The Pennan Inn team.

We’re a small, friendly team working in one of the most beautiful wee villages on the Aberdeenshire coast, and we’re currently recruiting for:

🍽️ KITCHEN PORTER | 16+
A great part-time role for someone reliable and hardworking. Weekend evening availability is essential. No experience necessary — we’re much more interested in someone who turns up, gets stuck in and works well with the rest of the team.

✨ FRONT OF HOUSE | 18+
We have various shifts available and are looking for friendly, confident people who enjoy chatting to customers and being part of a busy team. Previous hospitality experience is a bonus, but a great attitude matters more.

🍽️🏨 The Pennan Inn is looking for a new Front of House team member to join us!

🌊 We’re looking for someone with plenty of availability who would like to work with us regularly across our busy restaurant and hotel.

⏰ This position is offered on a zero-hours contract, so hours will vary depending on bookings and the needs of the business. However, we’re particularly keen to hear from someone who has good availability and is looking for regular work rather than just the occasional shift.

✨ A dining experience to remember... ✨

Ahead of our Your Vibe Tours on 8th July, we had the pleasure of enjoying dinner at The Pennan Inn – and what an incredible experience it was.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. Every dish was beautifully presented, showcasing the very best local produce, with everything lovingly homemade and absolutely exquisite.

The Pennan Inn isn't just somewhere to eat, it's an experience. Outstanding food, passionate chefs, wonderful service and a stunning coastal setting all come together to create something truly special.

It's exactly the kind of local gem we're proud to introduce our Your Vibe Tours guests to, celebrating the people and places that make the North East of Scotland so unique.

🍽️ Kitchen Porter Wanted: The Pennan Inn 🍽️

After two great years with us, Mason is moving on, so we’re on the lookout for a new Kitchen Porter to join our small, friendly team here in Pennan.

We’re a busy little restaurant-with-rooms in the village made famous by Local Hero, cooking everything from scratch with fish landed just along the coast. This is a brilliant first job: two evenings a week, a proper team around you, and a real kitchen to learn the ropes in.

🕕 Hours
✅ Friday and Saturday evenings
✅ Extra hours often available in busy periods and over the holidays

💷 Pay
£8.50 per hour for under-18s, with National Minimum Wage rates applying by age for older applicants

🧽 What you’d be doing
• Washing dishes, pots and kitchen equipment
• Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and running smoothly
• Giving the chefs a hand with simple prep tasks when needed

No experience needed, just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to muck in as part of a team. Great for a local student or anyone after their first job in a kitchen.

We’re back. ❤️

First of all, thank you.

The messages, cards, gifts, well wishes and kindness shown to us over our wedding weekend were genuinely overwhelming. We have spent the last few days celebrating with family and friends and making memories that will stay with us forever.

We’re back open from Wednesday, and it’s time to get back to what we love.

The kitchen team are already preparing for a busy summer ahead.

We are incredibly lucky to do what we do in a place like Pennan, welcoming people who travel from near and far to spend time in this special corner of the coast.

If you’re planning a visit this summer, whether it’s for dinner or a weekend away, we’d love to see you.

Tables and rooms are filling quickly, so don’t leave it too long.

Hello everyone. Apologies for the radio silence. We've been buried, and that is the honest truth. The best year The Pennan Inn has had in my seventeen years, by a long way. Dining room full most nights, rooms full most nights, and bookings landing in the inbox faster than we can answer them.

We do not take a minute of it for granted. Every table, every review, every recommendation passed from one set of guests to the next, thank you.

If you have not been before, here is what you are walking into. Fish landed at Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Macduff and in our kitchen within hours, not days. Bread, pastry, sauces, made by us in our kitchen, from scratch, every single day. One AA Rosette on the wall and working hard for the second.

It is harder work than the shortcut version. People notice.

A bit of news. We are closed Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May. Lizzy and I are getting married on the Saturday. Back open Wednesday 3rd June as normal.

Summer is filling up too. If you want a table or a room, do not leave it too long. There is more coming from us this year that we will share when the time is right.
