After the overwhelming amount of feedback we’ve had on our posts about using AI in our marketing, we’ve decided collectively to go completely AI Free.

We will no longer use any generative AI to create flyers, spellcheck text or adjust our photos.

So, get ready for spelling mistakes, lots of B-Roll and grubby gravy smudges on the sides of plates.

It’s going to be real, honest, and probably at times; a bit s**t. Fortunately, the team like to take funny pictures of themselves on the iPads.. So we have a bank of absolute corkers to use! Here’s some of our team!

It’s our duty to listen to our customers, learn from our mistakes and make our pubs a little bit every day.

Also, if anyone is interested in producing inexpensive graphics for us to help build your portfolio or develop your skills, please do get in touch.

🍻 AN HONEST QUESTION… DOES USING AI PUT YOU OFF?

You might have noticed that we sometimes use AI to help with posts and graphics for our pubs. We wanted to be open about why.

Previously, we used Canva for pretty much everything. A poster for a quiz night, a new menu announcement, a reminder about an event… it could take hours to get everything looking right.

And those hours have to fit around running the pubs, looking after our teams, ordering stock, planning menus, doing the paperwork and welcoming you through the doors.

We don’t have a dedicated design department or the budget to employ graphic designers to create everything we share. That work has always fallen to us.

So, within our business, AI isn’t taking someone’s job. It’s making the jobs we already do ourselves a little more manageable.

We know good design takes skill, and we respect the people who do it professionally. But our choice has usually been between spending an evening making a poster ourselves or not getting around to sharing it at all.

We do try to use AI sympathetically, with some thought for the character of each pub and the people who love it. We want it to help us communicate what’s happening, while keeping our own voice and making sure what we share reflects the experience you’ll find when you visit.

We won’t always get that balance perfect, and we’re happy to listen.

Does AI-assisted content bother you on a pub’s page? Or are you comfortable with it if it helps us keep you updated and gives us more time to spend on the pubs themselves?

📺🍻 BUDGET WATCH PARTY AT THE COMPASSES

💛 TODAY — LORD LOXLEY’S LAST DRIVE 💛

Today we come together to remember Sham and give him a send-off filled with the people and motors he loved.

📍 The Bedford Arms, Oakley
📍 The Compasses, Greenfield

☕ 10am: Free tea and coffee at both pubs
🚗 10:30am: Convoys leave both pubs
📍 11:30am: Parked up on Norse Road
🕛 12 noon: Funeral service at Norse Road Crematorium

We’ll also be livestreaming the funeral service on the big screens at BOTH pubs from 12 noon, so anyone unable to attend the crematorium can join us to watch and pay their respects together.

Cars, bikes, buggies, tractors — all welcome. Sham loved them all! 💛

Everyone is welcome back at either pub afterwards for a drink, a chat about cars and a chance to share memories of Sham.

Let’s give him a last drive to remember.
