Thank you All who came to celebrate this evening. Your flowers, gifts and cards are very appreciated.
It was a wonderful evening of friendship, community and feel good vibes. Here's the words I spoke before we tucked into a lovely buffet from Ash, enjoyed an amazing cake from Val and supped many liquid refreshments from Ashleigh and tonight's team.
"Good evening everyone,
Thank you all for being here to celebrate a very special milestone – 25 years of Scribbles.
Looking back, it's incredible to think that Scribbles began as nothing more than an idea and a belief that our town centre deserved something different.
Back in 2001, when Whitbread decided to put our Bella Pasta restaurant on the market, along with 49 other units across the UK, my deputy manager and I found ourselves at a crossroads. Rather than seeing uncertainty, we saw opportunity. We believed we understood what would work in our town when some of the larger national operators didn't. So we took a leap of faith and Scribbles was born.
Over the years, that leap has taken us on quite a journey. From those early days of partnership, through to 2010 when I completed the buy-out and became sole owner, Scribbles has continued to evolve. We've invested, refurbished, adapted and reinvented ourselves time and time again. We've weathered challenges, celebrated successes, and always looked for ways to improve and move forward.
Of course, no business reaches 25 years because of one person. It takes the support, encouragement and hard work of many people along the way.
I would like to thank John, whose support has been unwavering throughout this journey. To my parents, thank you for always believing in me, even when the risks seemed greater than the rewards. To my children, thank you for the sacrifices you've made and for sharing me with the business for so many years.
Most importantly, I want to thank every single member of staff who has walked through these doors over the last 25 years. Whether you stayed for a few months or many years, each of you has played a part in shaping Scribbles into what it is today. The relationships we've built, the memories we've created, and the service you've provided to our customers have all contributed to our success.
And in saying that, I would like to mention some more milestones amongst our team.
TODAY Ashleigh celebrates 18 years since she joined Scribbles. I also have Val, who joined the kitchen team back in 2010, my daughter Rachel who is now Restaurant Supervisor and has worked for 8 years, since she was 14.5 years old. Then there's Nicole who also has 8 years of service, Ash, our Kitchen Manager with 6 years, having joined us literally weeks before lockdown hit, there's Lauren with 5 years, Emma with 4 years and both my sons, Jack and Luke who have also worked with me for 4 years. Quite the tally you'd agree?
Twenty-five years in business is something I'm immensely proud of, but what makes me proudest is that Scribbles has become more than just a business. It's become part of the community, a place where friendships have been formed, milestones celebrated, and memories made.
As we celebrate tonight, I want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey. Your support, loyalty and belief in Scribbles have made these 25 years possible.
Here's to the past 25 years, and to many more still to come.
Thank you." Faith
