This photo was taken in 2010, during the only trip my father ever made to the UK.
The older I get, the more I realise Father’s Day isn’t really about fathers.
It’s about the people who show up.
The dads who work quietly behind the scenes.
The mums who had to be both mother and father.
The grandparents who stepped in when life had other plans.
The older brothers, sisters, uncles, friends and mentors who carried responsibilities that weren’t theirs, but carried them anyway.
Today isn’t about gifts.
It’s about gratitude.
So wherever you’re spending today, whether it’s around our table, someone else’s table, or simply on the phone to someone you love, take a moment to tell them what they mean to you.
Because one day, all we’ll have left are the memories, the stories, and the photographs.
Happy Father’s Day to everyone who chose to show up. 🤍
