Hello you beauties!

I have been away on the best 10 days of my life.

I was invited to be part of an intense SOE finishing school. Myself, Robyn and Lindsay cooked WWII food for all participants as part of the NAAFI.

It was an incredible experience where candidates took part in skills as if being dropped behind enemy lines in 1944. Sabotage, code breaking, agent in the field, using original WWII tactics and equipment. There were participants from some 26 countries. It was such an incredible privilege.

During my time, I lived, breathed and acted in 1944. I found that in the very core of me is both of my grandmothers who survived WWII and taught me so much about rationing and not wasting food.

It is the great generation that is the golden thread that runs through my business, the foundation of all I hold dear. I nearly lost that passion and all my confidence a three years ago, but I am pleased to say that it is safe and well.😍

There are so many people to thank, the entire crew of Open The Box. You were so kind, such fun and welcomed us in to your exceptional circle. I walked beside giants, experts in their field. I watched in awe as they went about teaching their incredible skills and knowledge. What an absolute privilege and honour to stand next to these people. Thank you is a bit of an understatement.
🥰
And HUGE thanks to Lindsay and Robyn, who both said yes when asked to be a NAAFI Girl. What a team. It was very hard work. I laughed and cried in equal measures and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Those people gave me so much more than an experience. I have had life breathed back into my heart and soul.

Thank you. Hope to see everyone again. We are planning some fun stuff at the Kitchen Front.

TTFN, Clair x

Daisy has a message for you!

22/06/2026

Alright everyone. *Waves hello*

This week is Armed Forces week. So we are doing a fundraiser in the form of tea, coffee, cake and scones with all funds going directly to the RMA-The Royal Marines Charity .

Chunky has dropped off a huge green bucket for all donations. If you can pay by cash, we would be grateful. Every penny goes straight into the green beret bucket.

In addition to our normal workshops and sessions, we are serving original WWII recipe cakes from 11am to 4pm, with pots of tea or coffee. We can only seat 6 people. Just pop in, have a brew, make a donation which says thank you to all our armed forces who keep us free and safe. If we can raise a hundred quid, then that would be great!

See you in the week!

Clair, Nay, Sarah and Daisy.

Ps. If you want to support but have special dietary needs, just call us on 01288 350107 the day before. We can provide GF, DF and vegan cakes on request.
