Our last weekend before we have a few weeks off (back on the 20th of November) so come down and see us before we go. Karl has dropped off some beautiful treasures for our board; we have some squat lobsters, cod, lobsters and sea urchins, all freshly caught over the road in Bridlington Bay. On the board until they're not. We will be here Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9.30-15.30 (and Saturday evening 6-8pm) we hope very much you will be here too. Until then friends.

The youngest members of the Old Lifeboat Station family spent many (many) hours over the last weeks building the whole crew in Lego. It is spectacular, as are they. So heartwarming, and hilarious, in equal measure to see all the things they have noticed about everyone. What a gang! Aren't we lucky?

The weekend when Robert was more than delighted with a gifted crown prince pumpkin, we started him off on the subject of octopus and struggled to get him off it again, and he turned the glut of green tomatoes into a vat of chutney. This is always our happy place and it means a lot to us, when we find it's a happy place for you too. Same time next week? See you then.

Once again our Old Lifeboat Station weekend draws to a close. As always, a real pleasure and an honour to be cooking for you. We are absolutely thrilled to have lots of your lovely faces as our outlook from the trailer each weekend, even as we slowly find ourselves in Autumn ( although, we are very fortunate that the sunshine is giving us a long goodbye). Your support, enthusiasm, kind words and presence are never taken for granted. Thank you so much. Finished off our Sunday, as we always do, with a leftover meal for all the crew and family, what a joy that this has become one and the same.

Introducing you all to the stunning Skipsea caught seabass we had on the menu on Sunday and are lucky enough to have again this weekend. Absolutely beautiful. Made sure everyone in the crew came to admire it before service. I did my very best to do the seabass justice with soubise sauce, chargrilled cabbage and black garlic mash. We have Andy Rafters to thank for this one, the local Primo cabbage, onions, potatoes and black garlic are all from him. He might not be aware of it but a lot of my inspiration and board planning begins with our conversations during the week, which I start with "anything lovely and local I should have?". My absolute favourite way to plan our plates - what our local fisherman have caught and what our local veg man thinks is lovely. The black garlic was new to us both, and I was so happy with how it turned out. From what we heard all of you who ate it were too. In the middle of planning tomorrow's food, but one thing is for certain I will be standing there at 12.15 writing it up, hopefully you'll be standing behind me. Breakfast 9.30-11.30 and lunch 12.15-15.30.

Bridlington Bay lobsters arriving on Saturday. Delivered by Karl and Jenny in the morning and in front of you a few hours later. I always look forward to a few minutes chatting with Karl at lobster handover. I could talk about seafood all day (as you know if you've ever asked me a question about anything on our board) and no matter how busy we are, I love to come out of the kitchen and show off our lobsters (you'll often hear me being called back to the grill). We are so very fortunate to have Karl Price bringing them in for us and so very proud have them on our board.

We have had some spectacular fish today, freshly caught in Skipsea. Will definitely show you that glorious haul (it is stunning) and what we did with it at some point. But not tonight. This here is our spectacular Sophie, and today is her birthday, so Sunday's spot on the grid should be hers. We love her so much, as I know you all do too. Our ship wouldn't' stay afloat without her, her constant care, hard work (4 miles in one day round this floor!), unshakable calm (and there's been some trials of that!), and her absolute dedication to us all and this place. This afternoon we pushed three of four tables together and got as many as we could (there was some missing) of the Old Lifeboat Station tribe gathered around them and there is nothing in the sea as spectacular to me as that.

What we got up to last night. It was a race to the finish to pull this off, being opening and prepping for an event was a stretch (and a half). But it was so exciting for us to have the opportunity to be introduced to so many wonderful, innovative and dedicated producers and makers included in Caitlin Pharoah The Hidden Figures Of Yorkshire. And even more exciting to be the lucky recipients of so many of their glorious and varied produce to create the evenings food with. We had HolgateWindmill (amazing place, run by volunteers, definitely a one to visit) flour for the bread, crackers and pastry, Yorkshire pecorino cheeses for the tart, blue cheese cream profiteroles and whipped ricotta, beautiful honey from Matt Curl who is both beekeeper and miller. Incredible cheeses from the The Courtyard Dairy for the fruitcake and crackers, Whitby Seasalt and vinegar for the pickled cucumbers, Anna Longthorp spectacular free range pork for the country terrine and Twisted Roots Distillery rum in our chutney. We really wanted to do our best to showcase the amazing things happening in Yorkshire, in food form, we were celebrating what wonderful things can happen, when we all do what we can, with a lot of love, commitment and skill.
Also what a thrill to spend the evening in York's Merchant Hall. What a place!

We will be back in our station on Friday, but will finish lunch at the earlier time of 14.00. I have had the great privilege and pleasure of being asked to make some food showcasing some incredible local produce from talented and committed producers and makers around Yorkshire, for the book launch of Caitlin Pharoah Hidden Figures Of Yorkshire. It has been a real treat to have wonderful things arriving at the Lifeboat Station to prepare for Friday evenings book launch. We have some family outings to collect thing (and some wild goose chases when I didn't read my directions) and it has really highlighted the diversity and vibrancy of the area we live in. I am sorry you won't all be there, and that I'll have to disappear early on Friday, but we'll be back to normal for the rest of the weekend. See you soon!
