Yesterday I was away from the caffe for the second weekend on the trot! A day in London is so good for the soul! We watched Les Mis for the first time ✨🥂We listened to jazz, ate the best Chinese food and mooched. Gianni drove to Bruges ahead of Italy 🇮🇹 and I headed back to tackle the aprons ☺️ ✨🌿

Happy Sunday from us 🍁

A birthday week of celebrations- little wins and plenty of things to be grateful for!

✨ We’ve been making the most of the sunshine and those balmy autumn evenings at the Caffè - cocktails on the decking and that golden light 🌅
🍬 Dwt has become a sweet little base for me somewhere to work, potter about and watch the world go by. It’s been so lovely seeing it slowly find its feet.
🍎 Our Autumn specials have been some of my favourites ever
🍂 And then there’s Porthkerry itself- the changing colours, crisp mornings and the beautiful autumn shift across the park - just gorgeous!

I’m looking forward to more sunshine and another week of Autumnal beauty ahead 🤎

Two years of Caffè Matteo 🤍🌿

Today, our Caffe in Porthkerry turns TWO ✨🌿

It’s hard to put into words what these two years have meant to us. What started as a cafe in the woods
has become such a huge part of our family, our lives and our hearts.

There have been early mornings, very long days, muddy boots, beautiful sunny days, rainy ones, lots of cake, lots of laughter… and coffee!

But most of all, there have been people.

Our wonderful team, our lovely regulars, families who come back again and again, little ones who have grown alongside us, dogs who know exactly where the treats are kept, and all of you who have supported our loved corner of Porthkerry. Thank you for choosing to spend a little bit of your day with us!

So today, we’re saying a toast to a precious two years

Thank you September… you’ve been glorious 🤎🍂

What an incredible month it’s been! After a very busy summer, it’s been lovely to slow down a little and see everyone taking their turns to have a well-earned rest. The team have each had a little break, and this week it’s Gianni’s turn - enjoying some solo time in Italy 🇮🇹

I’ve come back feeling rested too after a few nights away solo, something I really needed and feel so grateful for ✨

There has been so much happening behind the scenes… our new little venture ‘dwt’ has opened (a little later than planned, but finally here!) and we’ve loved starting this next chapter and welcoming you all through the door.

We have also been enjoying the bar ENZO . It’s been a full Summer after its refit ( we were closed for almost 7 months!) and Oktoberfest is now underway! 🍻

Tomorrow we celebrate Caffè Matteo’s 2nd birthday 🎂✨

Two years of coffee, cake, muddy boots, woodland dog walks, connections and celebrations (and so many memories made here at the park) 🌿

We’d love your ideas… how should we celebrate? 🤎

And finally, we have some very exciting news about our upcoming Caffè extension. We can’t wait to share the plans with you over the next week or so. I’ve been putting everything together in a little newsletter too, ready to send to anyone who would like to follow along with the journey.

Sometimes it’s good to step away from the busy days, slow down and rest! It’s been such a wonderful and full Summer that to have a gorgeous weekend away felt like such a treat 💚🌿

What a season it’s been at the Caffe. September has brought more beautiful weather and the opening the our new venture in the park (dwt is an endearing term for something cute, small and sweet) our traditional sweet shop in the Park 🌿Pop your head in and say hello.
