Well, what a send-off, Sarah ❤️ Your mum would have been so incredibly proud of you.
We are honestly overwhelmed to know that one of Wendy’s last wishes was for her final journey in the horse and carriage to pass by The Masons Arms. Seeing her go past the pub today was absolutely beautiful and so incredibly sad at the same time. 😢❤️ It meant more to us than I can put into words, and I think it shows just how much the Masons, and all the memories made here over the years, meant to her too.
Wendy will be dearly missed by so many. She truly was one of the most caring, loving and kind-hearted people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
When I bought The Masons Arms 18 years ago, I’ll never forget those karaoke nights when Shaggy used to do the entertainment. His nickname for Wendy was “S*x on Sticks” 😂🙈 He’d shout, “Come on then, S*x on Sticks, let’s have you!” and up she’d get and sing her heart out. She’d always drag me up with her too… neither of us could sing, but that certainly never stopped us! ❤️
And Friday nights doing Penny Arcade — all of us standing on the seats, singing at the tops of our voices! 😂🙈 What brilliant nights they were. Definitely some of my best memories of the pub and of Wendy. ❤️
We were only talking yesterday about when she lent my son Cory her mobility scooter after he’d had an accident with his foot. He was bezzing about Ackworth on it, absolutely loving life 😂 We joked about him doing wheelies — he didn’t really, Wendy, I promise! Although if he could have done, he definitely would have! 😂🙈
The pub simply won’t be the same without her, especially Monday bingo nights. And we’ll never see a bottle of WKD Blue or a packet of cheese & onion Walkers without thinking of Wendy — we used to make sure we had them in especially for her. 😞❤️
And Colin, you are such a wonderful man and such a big part of our Masons family too. ❤️ We all want you to know that we’re here for you, and we still want you right here with us on Monday nights calling those bingo numbers out. Wendy might not be sat beside you, but I’m sure she’ll be watching — and probably telling you if you call the wrong number! ❤️😂
Rest in peace, beautiful lady. Thank you for all the laughter, all the memories and for being such a special part of our lives and our pub for all these years.
The Masons won’t quite be the same without you, Wendy, but there will always be a little piece of you here. ❤️
Never forgotten.
All our love,
Danielle, the family & all the Masons team ###
