Hello, September.
I always feel as though autumn begins the moment September arrives. Each morning, there’s a slight coolness in the air. I used to wonder why the Spanish locals reached for their jumpers at the end of September while I was still in flip-flops well into October. But walking Alma this morning, I needed long sleeves. I finally get it.
So, what’s happening at Con Alma this month?
Hopefully, I’ll be back on social media a little more. I’ve spent almost the entire summer in the kitchen, leaving very little time for posting. I’ve also lost 5kg—apparently kitchen heat, litres of water and being incredibly busy work!
It’s been a good summer for Con Alma, and I’m so excited about our new Calle La Vía project and the launch of Con Alma en Casa.
To give me a little time back, from 7 September we’ll be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will open at 10am on the other days. We’ll also close for our usual week in October before our winter hours begin. More on this tomorrow.
September also feels like the perfect time to introduce Lisa Pearson. Lisa has been a close friend of mine for many years and has built a very successful business in England. She recently started looking for a holiday home in Dénia—because obviously she loves me that much—and somewhere along the way, she also became a shareholder in the new company we’ve created.
Her support has allowed me to breathe a little. If I’m honest, I’m pretty jaded. Losing Alfie took away so much of the strength I had left. Lisa brings support, creativity and new energy, and together we’re creating a wonderful place for you to eat, meet and spend time. Lisa won’t be working in the business, but over the next few months you’ll get to meet her.
And we’re not forgetting Con Alma. Its energy can’t be matched. That special little place holds so many secrets, so much laughter and so much love. It will remain open alongside our new Calle La Vía location, with each place complementing the other and offering something different.
The same soul, just a different expression.
There’s much more to come, but for now, I hope you’ve all had a lovely summer. I look forward to seeing you again very soon.
