Meet Keltie — the hands behind the latest mugs on our pottery shelf! ☕️
She’s been throwing pottery for about 10 years, on and off, since a 6-week course at the Potters Guild in Dawson Creek. But it started earlier than that. Grade 2, a lump of clay, and a hand-built chicken with a nest (the nest didn’t survive; the chicken did. It’s still around and affectionately named The Speckled Hen).
Keltie says she loves the whole process, though opening the kiln after a glaze firing gets her every time. Something about seeing a piece finished for the first time takes a minute to sit right.
As for what makes a ‘good’ mug? The weight, the handle, the shape, and how it all balances. That’s why she makes so many different ones: it depends on your mood, your coffee, your day.
“It might not be perfect — but it might be perfect for someone.”
Kelties pieces will be available until the end of August so make sure you pop by and grab one while you still can. They’ve been flying off the shelf!
