A group of individuals with the goal of bringing academia to the Hamilton community!

What happens within the walls of a university can sometimes be a mystery to those outside of it. Academics are always making exciting discoveries, but these are often destined to remain within the infamous “silo of knowledge” of university research. In order to bridge this gap between researchers and the community we will be hosting several exciting coffeehouse events that will be open to anyone w

ho is interested in research and in asking questions! Our coffeehouses will offer a warm and welcoming environment for all those interested to learn about research and have an open dialogue! We hope to foster great discussion and new ideas for both researchers and attendees alike.

We're still hard at work to find future for future coffeehouse events. We'll update as soon as we can with any information pertaining to success in funding and future events.

In the meantime, if you sadly missed our first coffeehouse discussing research topics on Love & S*x (or attended and were intrigued), you have a chance to contribute to research in that very area at McMaster University! Check out the poster for the details and swipe rig- We mean, sign up!

PANELIST HIGHLIGHT!

Dr. Andy Roddick: Assistant Professor | Department of Anthropology |
McMaster University

Dr. Roddick specializes in anthropology, currently focusing on investigating community organization through ceramic analysis. His experience consists of, and not limited to, ceramic analysis, studying social landscapes, and practicing scholarship across spatial and temporal scales.

Panelist: Joe Muto: Senior Planner | City of Hamilton

Mr. Muto has 15+ years experience in urban planning. Currently he works at the City of Hamilton as their Senior Planner with the Urban Renewal Division. Experience consists of, and not limited to, policy input, development permit review, zoning by-law review, and community improvement plans. Come join us and learn what “space” means to Mr. Muto.
