Once we got the plywood down, I primed the steel on the walls at the bottom to be painted. We got a checker plate floor cut, which was easier to get in because metal is bendier than wood.

The beginning of a new floor!
You can also see in this series that the walls have been insulated with spray foam for better temperature control. I want to be able to operate for longer throughout the year.

Getting the plywood to fit was an exercise in creativity because of the ridge on the wall about a foot off the floor. Especially since we went with tongue and groove plywood 😅

My friends took pity on me and helped to put the floor down. You can also see that the ventilation hood for the deep fryer has been installed, and you get a better view of the spray foam.

The last two picture are the sheet metal for the inside walls going in!

The front panels came off much more easily.

Getting these panels off was very difficult. First, the rivets holding them on were worn out and wouldn't drill out. Instead, they would spin with the drill bit. I got them out eventually, only to find that the adhesive holding the plastic to the metal behind it was stronger than the plastic itself. I ended up using a crowbar and hammer to get them off.

New panels were ordered to replace them.

Getting the sheet metal up!

We painted the floor in Rust-Oleum for protection. I'm pretty sure that black coloring on the floor from before we painted over it was the same concept. I chose yellow because it's fun and it matches the outside. You'll never see it, but it makes me happy!

Pay attention to the tarp for the next video.
