I MADE MY DRESS!!
This journey took so long that it was worth documenting. Felt worth it on the wedding day but replacing the zipper twice and breaking 3 needles made it a hard go. Anyway, the pattern is a commercial pattern that I altered by changing the neckline and fullness (as well as my measurements). First fabric step was a mock-up and then a second mock-up. The dress has a full b***d bodice made by myself as the inside structure. It is also lined AND has pockets. Then there’s a removable train! It was pretty handy to just take that off before the music started playing. It was important to me to have a tea length dress for a clean hem and easy movement. One of the photos also shows my ‘something blue’ embroidered hearts on the veil I also made. For anyone looking for a standard veil, I would definitely recommend making it- it was actually the easiest and quickest thing here.
The appliqué was also fun. In honour of his Dutch heritage, here we see tulips on the front and back
