Today, we celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Renate and Herbert Schuster, the original owners of Village Mall Deli, the little shop that would grow into what we know and love today as Edelweiss Village.
Mr. and Mrs. Schuster are truly pillars of our Edelweiss family. Their dedication to the business and the community has left a lasting mark, and for many years, even after passing the business on to the next generation, they continued to come in to help out — whether working the cash register or stocking CDs and DVDs. They remained a familiar and beloved presence until 2020, when the world became just a little too risky for two 80-90 year olds in a customer-facing role. ❤️
Their legacy lives on around us: in the very walls of our store, in the memories of customers who still remember their warmth and presence, and in their children and grandchildren, who continue to own, operate, and work in the family business they built.
Today, we’re sending Renate and Herbert all the love, joy, and celebration in the world as they mark this incredible milestone together at home — still calling each other Schutz, just as they always have. 🥂💕
