READ 🚨: Thank you so much for this amazing shoutout and article (which we’re sure required a lot of work and research) we feel so honoured to be acknowledged alongside some of !
We totally get how many Italian families have touched the Italian food scene in and how hard it is to get them all. So we wanted to add a shoutout to some Ricioppo’s that deserve a mention:
🍝 First, Nick Ricioppo who was the reason Chef Benny came to Canada to become the chef he is now. Nick and Pina have been in the restaurant business since 1976 and took over La Casa D’Italia, which for many Calgarians, holds a lot of fond memories. Nick left a legacy and we miss him alot.
🍷Second, Fedele Ricioppo who founded Trattoria di Italia in 1990 and then went on to open Il Centro in 2005. If you ever had the pleasure of dining there, you know how amazing it was!
🍕Benny’s sons and wife (Terry, Faustino and Alessandro) opened in 2015 located next door to La Luna Rossa on Edmonton Trail and is known as the best in Calgary. Don’t believe me? Go check it out for yourself. I’d also like to point out the amazing chef Alessandro is, he was trained and worked under Benny for many years and knows all his secrets 🤫
🥫Finally, Fedele’s son Fabrizio has gone on to open in 2019, an amazing deli and café just off Peigan Trail (they also cater!).
👨🏻🍳 Saving the best for last 😉, La Luna Rossa. Benny has owned and operated our restaurant since 1988! Before La Luna he owned Il Pescatore and before THAT Gambero Rosso with his brother Fedele. If you haven’t come down yet to taste Bennys amazing food or had the opportunity to say hello and meet him yourself, what are you waiting for??? He might even teach you a thing or two.
We can’t wait to see the Italian culture in grow and keep our and going strong!
Saluti a tanti altri anni di cibo e cultura italiana 🟢⚪️🔴
