What a weekend we have planned!

We’ve packed it with incredible live performances, our Métis Connect Harvesting Workshop, and our Open House - where you can meet our instructors, explore music and art lessons, and see what Cornerstone is all about.

Fall routines are back in full swing. Why not make music part of yours?

Sign your child up for lessons and skip the usual waiting-room experience. Instead of spending time staring at a parking lot, settle into our cozy café with a fresh coffee, something delicious, and a little time to yourself.

Better yet, take a lesson while they do. Piano, guitar, voice, drums (and more) aren’t just for kids. Fall is a pretty great time to finally learn that instrument you’ve always wanted to play.

Led by meditation coach and art teacher Keely Bays-Egri, Art & Inner Wellness blends simple, playful art projects with mindfulness in a relaxed, pressure-free space. Little musicians, big fun!

Our toddler group music classes are a playful introduction to music designed especially for little ones. Through singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, and musical games, toddlers get to explore sound, build confidence, and discover just how much fun making music can be.

Led by our wonderful Georgina, these classes create a relaxed and welcoming space where children can participate at their own pace, and parents join in the fun, too.

Wiggles, giggles, singing, and plenty of noise are all encouraged!

Learn it in the lesson... show your skills at the jazz jam!

Meet David Lavoie, one of Cornerstone’s talented instructors and the familiar face leading our Thursday Jazz Jams. A trumpet player, guitarist, composer, and educator, David brings experience in jazz, classical, and rock into his teaching. He offers both trumpet and guitar lessons, tailoring each one to the student’s interests, abilities, and goals.

David also puts a big emphasis on something every musician needs to learn: how to practice effectively. It’s not just about what happens during your lesson, but having the tools to keep progressing between them.

There’s a lot more than voice lessons happening when you learn with Georgina Craig!

A classically trained mezzo-soprano, Georgina brings extensive experience in performance and teaching. She welcomes singers of all ages, levels, and abilities, helping students discover their own sound while developing healthy technique, confidence, and a genuine connection to the music they’re singing. She can also help students prepare for RCM exams, auditions, festivals, recitals, and performances.

And voice is just the beginning! Georgina also teaches flute, music theory, and beginner piano, leads our toddler group music classes, and spearheads our annual "A Child’s Christmas in Wales" performance.

We’re excited to welcome Erika Borglum to the teaching team, and she’s now accepting new students!

A singer, songwriter and musician with more than 14 years of music and performance experience, Erika recently graduated with honours from MacEwan University’s Jazz and Contemporary Music program, earning her diploma in Vocal Performance.

She’s also an active singer-songwriter who has recorded in Nashville, released original music heard on radio stations across Canada, and regularly performs throughout the province.

In her lessons, Erika can help you:

🎶 Develop healthy vocal and breathing techniques
🎶 Improve range, control, dynamics and expression
🎶 Build confidence performing in front of others

As I sit here at my computer working away like I do every day, my heart is just beaming watching these kids in our summer camps on their snack break. So many conversations happening-some ridiculous, some hilarious, some real. No iPads, no iPhones. Kids actually listening to each other and talking with one another.

These kids aren’t just coming to camp to learn art, music, and jujutsu. They’re learning how to communicate. How to converse. How to manage their emotions while talking with others - right in the middle of our café, like little mini adults. I just absolutely love it.

If you’re looking for a traditional summer camp, we are not it. But if you’re looking for one that inspires your kids and helps them grow in so many ways, we are definitely it.

This is our last week of camp, and I am going to miss these little daffers. 💛
