OMG — Is This Real? Brunch.

We love letting the chefs off the leash. Every so often we open the gate, step back, and Rupeak comes out swinging.

Introducing the Smokey Brisket Brunch. Slow-cooked brisket, crispy rosemary potatoes, poached eggs, citrus hollandaise, and a haystack of crispy something on top that we're not going to over-explain. A patchwork quilt of gourmet extravagance. $27.99.

It's so good that the view across to the Hazards — one of the great views in this country — becomes a distant second thought. Your salivary glands take the wheel. The "I can diet tomorrow" voice kicks in around bite two. Tomorrow is a problem for tomorrow-you, and frankly tomorrow-you sounds annoying.

When The Proclaimers announced in 1988 they'd walk 500 miles and then walk 500 more, they weren't singing about love. They'd seen this plate. They just couldn't say so for legal reasons.

Worth travelling the state for. Trust us. We've done the research, repeatedly, in the name of quality control.

We had a long meeting about this. Genuinely long, seriously long .... coffee was our friend.

Someone said "just make it $28, it's cleaner."

Someone else said "but $27.99 feels like a bargain," and the room went quiet in a way that suggested he was right and we all hated it. T**t!!

So there it is. One cent. A coin that hasn't legally existed in this country since 1992. We are, in effect, discounting you with a currency that no longer exists — which we feel is the most generous thing anyone has done for you all week😉.

Marketing works. We're not proud. Enjoy your brisket.

At Alimento we've somehow ended up with three of the best chefs in the state — Rupeak, Mo and Suman — which is either exceptional recruiting or exceptional luck. We're going with recruiting of course!!! We have always prided ourselves on the best since the doors blew open.

As we grow, these three will be directing all Alimento food traffic across the new shops also, and we'd back them against anyone.

But this plate .... the colour chart of favour? This one's Will's.

Will is our locally bred apprentice, and he is quietly demolishing everything put in front of him.

Smashed avo on sourdough, poached eggs that actually hold their shape, and a beetroot hummus swipe that looks like it belongs in a gallery. Basic stuff done really well.

Not bad for someone who's technically still learning — though with three Masterchefs looking over his shoulder, he was never going to coast.

And a shout out to our "would be apprentice" Mitul, who rolls in for a weekly cameo with the family Butter Chicken recipe while he manages the Alimento ship. No notes. No substitutions. No questions asked.

And the big news folks for Swansea ..... you will have to wait until tomorrow 😅😅😅

Rupeaks ramen would have to be classified as world class …. Omg it was awesome
