Your AI cake inspiration might be setting us both up for disappointment. 👀🎂

We need to talk about AI…

If you know me, you’ll know I’ve well and truly jumped on the AI bandwagon — and I rate it! 🙌

It’s helped me enormously in my business, from planning and budgeting to content creation without spending hours on Canva.

BUT… there’s a catch.

AI doesn’t understand the physical limitations of what it creates. It doesn’t understand how different mediums behave, what’s structurally possible or what’s actually achievable.

Lately, I’ve been receiving more and more cake enquiries with AI-generated inspiration images attached, and I have a real love/hate relationship with them.

💕 What I LOVE: You’re showing me exactly what you’re envisioning! The colours, textures, details and overall feel. As a cake designer, that’s incredibly helpful!

😬 What I DON’T LOVE: AI can create designs that simply aren’t achievable with buttercream, fondant or other edible mediums. It can defy gravity, blend textures that don’t physically work together and create intricate details that look effortless on a screen but are a completely different story in real life.

And when the expectation is an exact replica, we’re both being set up for disappointment.

So please, KEEP sending me your inspiration images! But rather than asking ChatGPT to design your dream cake, let’s work together to create something beautiful, achievable and uniquely yours. 💕

My calendar for 2026 custom cake and dessert orders is almost full, so I’ll be closing bookings next Monday! If you’ve been meaning to get an order in, now is the time!
