While Burmese House has no lack of competition from the myriad Asian cheap-and-cheerfuls in Richmond, it attracts its fair share of diners and then some. Perhaps it's the attraction of trying Burmese food - influenced by Thai, Indian and Chinese cuisines, it promises an interesting change from the competition. Perhaps it's the welcoming, rustic interior, or merely the bright and quirky teapot-shaped signage. Whatever the attraction, Burmese House is often packed full of diners, munching on dishes ranging from authentic regional curries, marrow fritters with tamarind dipping sauce and more familiar-sounding stir-fries.

About four months since we reopened and man, what a pleasure it’s been to share our food and stories with you all! From the returning guests and new friends, thank you for looking after us and making this house a home 🫶🤍

For many of us, mohinga is more than breakfast or the dish that represents Myanmar… it’s comfort, home and memory in a bowl. To have ours recognised this way means the world to our team 🫶

Monti Thoke is that classic old-school Burmese street food that you’ve gotta try! Rice noodle salad tossed with mohinga broth and fritters topped with fish cakes 🤤

If you can handle the heat, ask for extra chilli and a squeeze of lemon!
