There’s more to these photos than just rows of young apple trees.

There’s next year’s apple crop, already beginning its journey.
There’s a dam full of water, a very different sight from 12 months ago when we came through a dry winter.
And in the background, there’s Mt Alexander, still showing the scars of the fire that swept through in January.

Three photos. Three very different reminders of what life on the land is like.
The seasons change, the weather tests you, and sometimes nature reminds you just how little control you really have.
But then spring arrives. The trees blossom, the dams fill, and everything begins again.
Farming is always about looking ahead, even when the past is still right there in front of you.

I’ve been thinking lately about how easy it is to miss the little things.

The sound of someone pouring you a cuppa.
The first blossoms of the season bravely peeking out.
Fresh linen blowing in the breeze on the old Hills Hoist.
The dogs stretched out in a patch of sun.
That little bit of extra light at the end of the day.

None of it is particularly exciting. But I think that’s the point.

Life isn’t always in the big occasions or the things we plan weeks ahead for. So much of it is right here, in these very ordinary moments. And sometimes you just have to be still long enough to notice them.

I’m trying to do more of that.

Cutting cheese is our thing. And we wouldn't have it any other way.

Big wheels, little wedges, just enough for tonight's dinner or a little extra for the weekend.

We love being able to cut cheese fresh, just the way you like it.

It was Lola's birthday recently, and when we talked about what she wanted to do for breakfast, she could have chosen anywhere. We were in Melbourne. There are hundreds of beautiful cafes and restaurants we could have gone to. But Lola wanted breakfast at home.

So we bought some beautiful produce from the shop, put breakfast together and sat around the table. And talked. No rushing off. No trying to get a booking. Nothing particularly fancy. Just really good food and time together.

It got me thinking...

We spend so much time looking for somewhere to go or something special to do. And sometimes the nicest thing is actually staying home. Buying really good ingredients. Putting them in the middle of the table. Making another coffee. And sitting there much longer than you planned.

I think that's what I loved most about Lola choosing breakfast at home. It wasn't really about the breakfast. It was about having everyone around the table.

A love of the land, passed down through generations.

A little moment with Emmy, and someone very special ...Brian, Greg’s dad.

Watching Brian in this video is a gentle reminder of where Greg’s love for the land began.

It's something that has been passed down through generations. An appreciation for the seasons, the simple things, and the connection to the land that never really leaves you.

And now, watching Mac and Emmy make their own memories, it’s lovely to see that connection continuing.

Some things are simply part of who we are.
