🇫🇷 What exactly is a Framboisier?

In French pâtisserie, a framboisier is a classic raspberry cake — traditionally built around light sponge, cream and the fresh, slightly tart flavour of raspberries.

The name comes simply from framboise — the French word for raspberry. ❤️

Our version gives that French classic a brighter Spring/Summer twist:

🍋 Lemon Framboisier
with raspberry crème fraîche and raspberry coulis.

Fresh, creamy, a little tart and just sweet enough — the kind of dessert made for finishing a long lunch or dinner on a lighter note.

🇫🇷 Did you know the word restaurant was originally something you ate?

Legend tells that in Paris, around 1765, there lived a man called Monsieur Boulanger.

At a time when travellers mostly ate at inns and taverns, often sharing large communal tables and eating whatever was being served, Boulanger imagined something different.

He opened a small establishment where guests could sit at their own tables and choose from nourishing broths, served throughout the day.

Above his door, he is said to have written:
“Come to me, all who suffer from the stomach, and I will restore you.”

His broths became known as restaurants — from the French restaurer, to restore.

And, as the legend goes, something that began as the name of a restorative meal slowly became the name of the place itself.

But one thing survived without question:

A French word that travelled from an 18th-century restorative broth to the name we now use for places where the world comes together to eat. 🇫🇷

And more than 250 years later, we're rather happy to be part of that tradition. ❤️
