Nido is a neighbourhood Italian restaurant at the top of King William Road, Hyde Park. We are all about hand-made pasta and grilled meats.

We love a hearty Italian Sunday lunch.

A little family pride from King William Road, with our sister restaurant Fugazzi Bar & Dining Room officially recognised by MICHELIN recently, and there are a few familiar faces and dishes we’d like to raise a glass to. The gnocco fritto began life here at NIDO, before Fugazzi helped make it one of Adelaide’s most loved plates. Tiramisu runs in the family too, but the connection goes well beyond what’s on the plate.

Before becoming Fugazzi’s Executive Chef, Ross spent time in our kitchen here at NIDO, so seeing him at the helm alongside Alex makes this recognition all the sweeter. Congratulations to them and the entire Fugazzi crew, whose work in the kitchen and on the floor makes that dining room what it is, every day.

And congratulations are also in order to our fellow restaurants within the group, with Shōbōsho, 𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗔 𝗢𝗚𝗚𝗜 and latteria each recognised by MICHELIN Guide (official) too.

Some dishes come and go, but our agnolotti has made itself part of the furniture. It’s one of the pastas we talk about most, but also one of the dishes you order most, so we think it’s earned the airtime.

Rolled, filled and folded by hand at NIDO every day, with potato, Taleggio, chive and poppy seeds, it’s become one of those orders that barely needs the menu anymore.

A deep dive into the DNA of one of our most loved plates. Our gnocco fritto starts each morning with the very same dough recipe as our focaccia, kneaded, portioned and rolled before being fried fresh to order and finished with ricotta, honey and cracked pepper.

The idea came from eating through Italy, where fried bread would arrive as antipasti alongside salami, prosciutto and cheese. That same thinking eventually gave us the mortadella bun too - proof that one very good dough can go a long way.

Two fingers that have well and truly earned permanent residency in the NIDO hall of fame.

Both start with the same Roman-inspired focaccia dough, sliced down into what we rather un-Italianly call a “finger”, because the British term is just a lot easier than explaining crostini every time.

One gets loaded with punchy Sicilian anchovies, deliberately salty enough to hold their own against stracciatella, chilli and all that fluffy bread. The other, our crab finger, is built around sweet crab sourced from the 2 Gulfs Crab.
